  • Hi all,

    OK time for another update:-

Well the bad news is I weakened and bought a CD & Stamp set from Create and Craft the other day costing £49.99! That's not going to do my total much good but it does contain loads of images for confirmation, christening etc which I can use time and time again and will be really handy for me so that i can advertise in church newsletters etc (thanks for the idea).

I did however sit down last night for a few moments break from packing suitcases etc and make another 6 cards for the stockpile so I feel a bit better!.

Look on the bright side - I'm not going to be able to watch the craft channels for two whole weeks whilst I'm on holiday so I can't get tempted at all!!!!!!

Haha, well I have managed to give some stuff away, so that at least cleared some space!!

And I have not managed much more than that...Have been concentrating on getting xmas presents done first, so I know I am organised.

Do have a book I am adding ideas to though, so I am making some progress too!

    Hope you enjoy the holiday

  • Hi all,

Well I am suitably refreshed after my holiday and chopping at the bit to get crafting again!!!

I've started by having another tidy up of my craft room as I cannot find anything I need and all my time I could be crafting I spend looking for things rather than actually making things to sell - it really was messy (and still is even though I've been tidying & sorting out for the past three days!!!) but the good news is I have found loads of things that I will not use and am going to list these on Ebay to see if these will sell and add to the crafty total.

However after having my clearout I have come across loads of pieces of fabric and plain canvas bags & aprons which I bought ages ago to turn into masterpieces but never got round to. The only problem now is that I really want a sizzix big shot machine and a couple of large dies (total cost approx £80) so that I can cut out fabric shapes to add onto these items so am now trying to sit on my hands to stop me buying this! Has anyone got one of these machines (or knowledge of them) and are they worth the money in the long run? I was thinking that I could also use this machine with the smaller sidekick dies I have to create fabric embellishments for cards which I think would be well liked in the small boutique style gift shops in the nearest city to me so I hope I could regain my money eventually if I were to purchase one. Any comments on this machine would be most welcome.

Other than that I have also drawn up a plan of action so that I hopefully this time manage to get some samples made:-

    1. Finish tidying study
    2. List excess items on Ebay
    3. Make birthday cards for mum & friends & also mums present before 15th Sept
    4. Take cards & other items already made to playgroup & school so that they can be bought by friends etc.
    4. Make samples of cards for shops and other outlets with a view to selling
    5. Contact shops with samples for possible (hopefully loads) of orders

This should keep me going for a while & stop me spending.

Ooh almost forgot to mention whilst I was away on holiday I sold some more items on Ebay so thats a further £18.84 for the total. Also had an order via my website for £14.75 but unfortnately despite chasing no payment has been received so cannot count this towards the total sadly!!

Off to do some more tidying - wish me luck!!!!

  • Hi all,

Time for another update me thinks:-

    1. Done - well its as tidy as its ever going to be but found loads of stuff i had forgotton about and loads of stuff that I can sell on Ebay so thats good

    2. Listed 2 items but then hit a problem as my scales broke so could weigh anything for accurate postage costs and digital camera ran out of battery (and i cannot find the charger to charge it back up at the mo so desperately hunting!!!)

    3. 3 out of 6 cards done & mums scrapbbok present coming on slowly but surely (its a good job shes not actually going to see me on her birthday so that will give me a couple of extra days to complete!)

    4. Everything is ready to go to playgroup on Thursday and I've written a letter to the school fundraising comittee about having my items in school to hand in on Monday.

4 (obviously a bad day on last post!!) No progress as of yet

    5. No progress as of yet

I have sold another two sets of toppers though so thats another £9.98 for the total.

Also its my birthday at the end of September and my hubby & parents are going to give me the money for a big shot machine & some dies so I'm really excited and managed to pick up a good deal for £60 which included loads of free dies as well so I can't wait for it to arrive and for me to be able to start decorating all the items I found in my sorting of study! Even better I don't have to class this amount in my spend total - yipee!!!!

Off to craft for a bit longer before going food shopping - deep joy!!!

  • Sounds like you are making progress. I managed to sell $18 worth of stuff (first online sale) and took me about 4 hours to get pic posted right :o but I might be hooked now lol...

I have an idea of something I want to try and make during the school holidays (in two weeks here) and I will post a pic here for you if it works out :j

Anyway, hope you are well, have a good week

  • I don't know if this will affect you, but eBay announced recently that there will be no more Buy It Now under 99p from 25th September - since Shop Format is disappearing on the same date, this effectively means there will be no sub-99p items on the site unless they're single auction items.

They've kept it quite quiet and I think a lot of people may be in for a nasty surprise on 25th - just thought I'd mention it in case you weren't aware and it affected any of your toppers.

    Caz
  • Well done Zoegirl - you will be hooked now and it gets quicker to take and upload photos once you've done a few so give it another go! I can't wait to see photo of what you are planning - it sounds really exciting.

Also thanks for letting me know Caz - I was'nt aware so am a bit gutted that I will have to pay more to list my items - I was thinking about opening an Ebay shop to sell my items until I noticed how much they are putting their fees up to in September - £6.00 a month to £14.99!! I think I might just list the sets of toppers individually instead! Whoever profits from Ebay fees must have more money than they know what to do with (particually as they have Paypal connected to them too!). Oh well such is the price of a worldwide audience I suppose!

Well time for a further update:-

Sadly no more items sold since last post (although my friend is coming tomorrow and has warned me she wants 3 cards so that should give me a couple of quid!). However list progress as follows:-

    1. Done
    2. Still looking for camera charger and forgot to buy more scales when I was at the shop today - whoops!!!
    3. 2 more cards made so only another 2 to go and I've done another 4 pages of mums scrapbook so I might actually finish sometime this year!
    4. Cards still ready and letter handed in (just awaitinga response)
4 again - None actually made yet - but have written down loads of ideas ready to crack on with once above done
    5. no further progress

Well better go - my little lad kept me awake most of last night after having his jabs so am very tired and need to sleep (hav'nt even got the energy for any crafting!)

    Night night
