From the info you gave me I have now found out how to send a secure message but it's not quite as easy as you say.
    Click 'help'
    Click 'contact us'
    Click 'Account enquiries'
    only gives the telephone option.
I never mentioned anything about 'account enquiries'. Read my post again. ;)

You missed out 'Other Ways to Contact us' between 'contact us' and
    'send us a secure message'.

How many people would go to 'Other Ways to Contact us' after 'contact us' ?

    It's easy when you know:rolleyes:

So I did...fingers faster than mind! Thanks for pointing that out. I've edited my post (and credited you with the thanks...can't 'thank' from this PC).

Are you sure? The price list doesn't mention 0844 numbers. That's why its a rip off. Most people think 0844 numbers are the same price as 0845 numbers but they are not. 0844 numbers can be TEN TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE.

    Calls within the UK: p/min
    UK fixed 0.0
    UK mobiles (sat/sun) 3.5
    UK mobiles (weekdays) 6
    0845 (sat/sun) 0.5
    0845 (weekdays 6pm/6am) 0.5
    0845 (weekdays 6am/6pm) 3
    0870 (sat/sun) 2
    0870 (weekdays 6pm/6am) 4
    0870 (weekdays 6am/6pm) 6
    070 Personal 25

The phone number I ring for A&L is 08459 262626. Anyway, before you are connected you are told the price per minute so could always hang up if it costs more ;)

I always had a devil of a job getting anywhere when telephoning A&L and got so fed up of hanging on the end of the phone that I went into the branch and told them. They were very helpful, allowed me to use their phone in one of the little "private" offices in the banking hall and said I could call in any time to use it (shame the branch is 60 miles away!).

However, because of the problems I had with their telephone system overall both OH and I closed our A&L accounts apart from the current account. Even then it was unbelievably difficult trying to get them to change it from joint names to my name only. I only use it to have my pension paid in then it's straight out again to earn interest elsewhere ;)

Thanks, I didn't know they had an 0845 number. I will keep a note of it if I need to call them again.

I use '18866' which is similar to your provider and I am sure you will find they charge alot more for 0844 numbers.
