Whilst you are correct in stating the chargeback can be started as early as 7 days after payment, how do you know what is in the mind of the reviewer. If I was reviewing a claim and saw that someone was so impatient as to wait a few extra days to see if the item arrived before demanding a refund, I wouldn't be impressed.
the only thing that matters with a paypal claim is proof of delivery. if seller has proof of delivery the buyer will lose and if seller doesn't have proof of delivery the buyer will win.
i doubt it is even looked at by a human being anyway.0 -
Congratulations mookie! Glad to see you now have received the item.
From the Royal Mail website:
Second Class mail (stamped and meter items)
Over 97% of Second Class mail arrives within 3 working days, but if yours doesn’t, the information below will tell you how we can help.
Has your mail item arrived seven or more working days after it was posted?
For Second Class mail the ‘due date of delivery’ is the third working day after it was posted. If so, your mail is classed as ‘delayed’, and we’ll give you compensation of 12 First Class stamps. If you provide additional evidence of delay and your claim for compensation is accepted, you will be sent a cheque for £5, or for £10 if your item has suffered substantial delay (i.e. was delivered more than thirteen working days after the day of posting) and you provide additional evidence or proof of delay.
So it sounds like you possibly have a claim against RM if you want as it arrived on the 7th working day after posting."Now to trolling as a concept. .... I'm glad you got the item Mookie!
Going back to the other points above I do not need to know what the reviewer is thinkingThe facts are simple, if seller cannot prove delivery then buyer will win the claim. None of this is open to any other interpretation and if you use paypal it may well be a good idea to brush up on the terms and conditions.
The other reason i suggested going to an immediate paypal chargeback is that the seller obviously does not understand how paypal and ebay work, their silly terms in the auction prove that. Therefore it is best not to leave this in the hands of a seller that is unaware of their responsibilities, but take it direct to paypal instead.

It was posted on the 21st so 9 working days. I was more concerned about it actually coming, its not expensive but was a fair bit cheaper than would of been in a store.0 -
I think this thread is a good example of why I gave the advice I did in post#5
Here we have a case of a problem being caused by RM with neither buyer nor seller at fault.
The options were either:
a) to aggravate the situation by creating a dispute, and possibly even raising it to a claim, thereby possibly causing a feeling of badwill between buyer and seller,
or
b) wait a little longer and keep the goodwill of buyer and seller allowing them to trade together in the future without any badwillsoolin wrote:... ... but then you say you never use RM recorded delivery yourself and suggest no one else does either as it's a "waste of money" and "not worth it"

Whoops, my bad, you're right.
I would definitely be making a claim against RM if that was me for 12 free 1st class stamps."Now to trolling as a concept. .... You are quite right I never use recorded as I understand my responsibilities and don't expect my buyers to have to fight me via paypal when an item does not arrive. When I have a lost parcel I will refund the full payment costs, as do most sellers. I am not naive enough to think that I can win a paypal chargeback if I cannot prove delivery regardless of whether the buyer waits 7 days or 15. However the posts on the helpful thread are a checklist for sellers who may not understand what they need to protect themselves, my model of no recorded delivery works for me but I know many others prefer to use recorded in case they ever have a case of a fraudlent claim for non arrival. It would not be an accurate 'helpful hint' if I made claims about paypal that were not accurate, only by knowing the rules and requirements can a seller decide where their own personal comfort level sits.
The posts on the sticky thread are direct quotes and cut and pastes from the paypal site, if you go direct to them and look for the postal requirements you will see I have not added anything that is not directly taken from the paypal site. It is quite clear there is no requirement to wait any longer than 7 days before a claim can be made and if a seller cannot prove delivery then the buyer will win the claim.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have advised the seller to do this, she has had a whole bag that went in with mine, none of them have arrived yet mine is the first it says on RM site that the proof of posting is needed to claim which she has got. I get free stamps on the RM survey anyway so I dont need anymore, I have loads but if she can claim them she may as well0
