8 month old accoustic solution LCD tv from Argos went pop right before my eyes and i can't find the reciept!
I paid cash instore and had my name and address recorded for the tv licensing thing, but thats the only way i can prove it was bought at argos, is there anything i can do or am i well and truelly **ggered?

I had the same problem. I called customer services, gave them the card details and the amount of the purchase, and they gave me all the details I needed. I then took the tv back to the shop I bought it from.

I actually found the details on my bank statement, but I don't think you need that. The card number should be enough.

Ooops, sorry, just realised you paid cash!! Sorry!

Please note anybody wondering, that this can only be done if you ring customer services - there is no facility to do this in stores.

What about taking it to a repair centre for a free estimate, you might find that it's something cheap and simple to repair ie. a fuse or something

Yes you can you ring h/o and ask then to put you through to funds admin, they ask if it is to trace a card sale and then they give you the details once they have traced the sale then you can trace this on aura providing purchased in your store. I have used this several times

Thanks for the info, but it's not something you can do whilst the customer is there on the spot. I only work Saturday and Sunday (all day on both mind) and it is HEAVING for the majority of the day, but when it is less busier, perhaps during the week it could be done then - point i'm making it can't be done there and then on the spot!

Dont you just love honest people like you NOT.
I can understand that the OP is wanting something sorted but doing what you suggest is not the answer, and before you add that everyone does it, as otherwise shops wont do anything, is not the answer what would you do if you got caught out.
It gives the same fair outcome as if the receipt had been kept.
    Cash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. Mortgage rate 0.75% = 5.75% profit on £75K = £4500 per year:j

Did you apply for warrenty?? Or extended warrenty? If so this will be good enough to get it fixed for free.

Speak to the manager and tell him/her that you purchased the tv and lost the reciept. Emphasise that you are not looking to get your money back but to get it fixed. They can do something esp if it is still available to buy and in stock (i.e. exchange).

Advice: Avoid paying cash if you can. If its a reputable company like Argos then using a credit/debit card is fine and they can easily identify your transaction as its unique to you.
