Play.com clothing and returns

Options
I ordered my son a couple of band t shirts in the £5 sale and when they arrived one was too big and one was too small. I phoned them today and was told because they have been opened and that they sent the correct size i had ordered out theres nothing they can do!!!

I have ordered lots of things from Play.com and have always been happy but i do think they need to review their returns policy on clothing as you have to open the packaging to try them on and different manufacturers size t shirts differently.
I am very disappointed and not sure what to do next, any suggestions please?

All you can do is complain to them strongly by letter. But if they won't budge on it there's not really anything else you can do unfortunately.

Is there a sizing guide on the site you could refer to in your letter?

If there is (and you ordered accordingly) you could maybe reject under SoG

 I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

The Sale of Goods Act is a UK law and hence only applicable when bought from somewhere in the UK. Unfortunately in buying from play.com you're not only buying outside the UK but also outside the EU so not even EU laws apply. It's not much different from buying from China or the USA.

Good point! I thought play were based in Jersey but have just looked up on wikipedia and as you say that's not UK and not EU anyway.

Thanks for pointing it out :-)

Yep, I used to think the same thing "Jersey is part of the UK surely" until I looked it up when someone told me it wasn't. That's why I'm not sure I'd ever buy anything really expensive from play.com because I know I'm not protected by the same consumer rights.

Machine head and A life once lost if they mean anything to you:D. All i know is that any music my Son listens to is too heavy for me being a 44 year old Il Divo fan:D.

Its prompted me to sort everyones wardrobes out so will have a selling spree on ebay i think so i guess something good has come out of the experience;)
