Mot Advice Please

My daughter's car is due for MOT at the end of this month and because she is going away to university we can't use our usual garage. Does anyone know of a reliable, trustworthy garage in the Wakefiled area please. All help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If it has a current MOT you can get it tested up to a month before it expires and the new one will be dated for a year from the expiry date of the current one. So you could get it MOT'd for 13 months for her before she goes. Obviously no good if it's the 1st MOT though.

Thanks for the reply pompeyrich I didn't know that, but we only just remembered this morning that it needs an MOT this month. She goes to uni on Friday and needs the car during this week so couldn't do without it if it needed any thing doing, so thats why we need a garage in Wakefield.

    Hi Toronto
I took mine to my local council MOT testing station, anyone can take their vehicle in. It cost me £38, and they are very trustworthy as they don't do the repairs there, so not in their interest to rip you off (obviously also they wouldn't want complaints either). Any repairs have to be done elsewhere.

Just ring your council and ask for the number.

    Good luck

  • Thanks to advice from this great site my daughter took her car to the council testing station in Wakefield - and it passed!!!! I realise that it may still have passed had she taken it to a garage but it has never happened before so we are two very happy people - daughter because she can still drive the car and me because I only had to pay for the test and no repairs. Thanks again everyone for all your help.
