Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

This US spam is more often than not a Bot. A PC that has sometimes innocently been taken over by a trojan which it then spams forums
There is no full way to stop them they get round those letters/words that forums use to sign up to now. The best way is block known IP address that come from a country like US/China but there are ways round it
not letting people to post links for the first 30 days of registering with the forum or to let them post links only after 15 posts might make some difference0 -
I love this board - I loved hearing about the 3 leather jacket scam and how many peeps had fell for that one.:o For mentioned is fore-mentioned is fore-warned and all that.:DA journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

What is the point of closing it down ~ basically, use common sense ~ Then no-one gets freebies. Most Spammers work on peoples greed - and usually the saying "if it seems to be too good to be true, it is" is usually correct 99.9999 times out of 100.
If anyone is worried about getting spam from it, they shouldn't use the thread.
The spammers are usually picked up very quickly, and a lot of nice freebies would be missed for the sake of ignoring a thread.0
