'It Pays to Watch'; great show but half an hour's inadequate. Poor Martin has to squeeze too many things in too short a time. I find it almost stressful to watch sometimes. For Goodness sake, Channel 5, give him an hour!
Should we give Martin's 'It Pays to Watch' more time? 112 votes

No way ! It HAS to be the worst program on CH5.
He should have stuck to his website .....but then again he is USING US to boost his TV presenting career.
Its the same stuff every week ...which is mostly basic common sense anyway.0 -
Martin speaks a little too quickly, but otherwise it is a very good programme.
Not everyone has daily access to a computer, so a short T.V. programme can put them on the right track.0 -
Saw this for the first time the other night and he shouldnt be on tv, he has no personally and tries way to hard to play up to the camera.Well I Love Tv And I Love T. Rex, I Can See Through Your Skirt I've Got X-Ray Spex0

Martin's saving us loads of dough. Name ONE person whose appearance hasn't been boosted be TV. Apart from starring on Crimewatch UK, that is.0 -

I agree! Even 45 mins would be a bit better. I suppose it's a difficult balance though, trying to impart enough info to be useful while at the same time keeping the programme interesting. It has improved from the first few programmes though. The format of trying to concentrate on one main issue works better imho. Maybe they could concentrate this further by doing the main issue as one block rather than keep going back to it?0 -
don't be so unkind and ungrateful. He's saving us all a fortune. As horsechestnut said, not everyone has access to a computer and to this site. Yes, a lot of it is common sense but it seems that not everyone has been blessed with it! I think the programme is fantastic. Mecoconuts, if you feel you're being 'used' then don't post your wisdom on this forum. If marriage means you fell in love, does divorce mean you climbed back out?:rotfl:0

No he's not .....all he's done is milked info from other websites and posted information from other forum members making it look like it was him.
He's getting far too much credit from work other people have done !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :mad:0 -
In spite of criticisms and some personal reservations, I support ML, this site and all it represents.
I would be so bold as to suggest that credit should now ultimately pass to the many active and knowledgeable members who ensure the continuing success of this site. HOWEVER It was his brainchild and every organisation has to have an acknowledged founder and public figure head for god's sake.
Constructive input I hope:
1] Give more time to the tv show. Or maybe 2 regular 1/2 hour slots.
2] I would agree that ML's presentation skills are not the best, why not have him as the main man [like Trever McD on Tonight] and use a mix of professionals and consumers in the programme.
3] Martin should take some presenter training - he needs to be a bit detached. At the moment he is too 'emotionally' involved with the topics and tends to go over the top and appear over-excitable.
Why is it we Brits appear to resent people who 'grow and prosper'?0 -

This is untrue, and frankly defamatory. We pride ourselves on doing all our own primary research for our articles. Where we use other sites - e.g. comparison sites we link to them directly.
When things are mentioned in the forum in the weekly email we always link directly - sometimes adding in a post ontop for clarity, but when the info hasn't come from the team we thank the poster. No way ! It HAS to be the worst program on CH5.

OK now this is getting bizarre.
First of all I've been presenting on TV since 2000 and way before I had the website, Im a qualified broadcast journalist so the idea I'm new to this is rather strange.
You're entitled to your view about the show; and that's fine. But some of the comment you seem to make seem to be just designed to be inflammatory, and it really is a wee bit silly.
As for using people on the site - i'm not quite sure how I manage to do that. And if I'm giving common sense info - that's great - I'm pleased to hear it - I hope to try and make things simple, practical and understandable. I dont always succeed, but I will keep trying.
And as for the same stuff every week? That bit I just don't get...
Anyway... it seems you neither like me, this site or the info, so I'm confused that you have so many posts. As it seems to agitate you so much I thought I'd give you another of my common sense solutions. Why not stop using the site and don't watch the programme.
Kind regards
