New broadband ISP needed!

Hi

I've just given Sky their marching orders due to the overall cost of tv, net & phone, plus their inability to deliver their £5 broadband deal which I was promised.

I've been looking around and tiscali seem quite reasonable on price, and uswitch suggests they are ok, but other threads on here suggest they are the spawn of the devil!

I am therefore after some impartial advice from the horse's mouth, as it were ;)

Does anyone have any experience of madasafish? Their service seems very good according to thinkbroadband.com, plus they have a £14.99 deal with free wireless router, but the limit is only 5gb which I am worried I may exceed, as we surf 2-3 hrs most days, plus my eldest likes to watch some programmes on iplayer. Additional allowance is £2 per gb.

Any other good ISPs out there?

Prior to Sky, I was with Pipex who I was very impressed with. I now find they are now owned by Tiscali!!!!

Any thoughts/advice would be gratefully received!

Thanks

I have always found Zen to be excellent. http://www.zen.co.uk/broadband/ZenBroadband.aspx

They are not the cheapest - but, you get what you pay for! The quality and consistency of service has always been faultless. They also run a monthly contract so no long tie in if you don't like them.

Have you checked to see what providers you can get in your area?

BE are supposed to be superb if you can get ADSL. I would steer clear of Tiscali.

I think BE is ADSL2 most if not all broadband up to 8 meg is ADSL above that is ADSL2 from LLU exchange or Cable
    Who cares ??

Tiscali are very, very good on price, but the old adage 'you get what you pay for' holds especially true, if you value your connection pay a bit more.
go to samknows.com and see what services are available at your exchange, if Be/Sky/O2 are available in the LLU list then they would be very good choices, both for price and service, however, if they are unavailable i would steer clear of small 5gig limits, iplayer eats bandwidth and could turn out very expensive at £2/gig

bill, if all 4 of his posts were similar, I'd agree. 2 posts totally unrelated, so I put it down to care in the community.

I hope I don't jinx us now by posting this but we are with Tiscali and have had no problems what-so-ever. We rate them enough to recommend them to my Dad, he's now waiting for the change over.

We currently pay £30pm for all calls free, line rental and broadband. This package now costs £20pm. After our contract is up we are going to the £15pm deal which is free weekend calls, line rental and broadband.

I was only saying to hubby last night that lots of people don't rate tiscali but on forums like this you usually only hear the bad stuff, if people are happy there is nothing to complain about.

    Just my opinion :D
