My cats Charlie and Dodgem (she walks about with her tail upright, and Charlie does public service announcements about playing with matches (you're too young I expect)) are still up and will be bouncing off the walls most of the night but alas although Charlie can use a laptop she can only type o1ft3bpbyciuubvqliy87[-9yfr3pyvqgoggvuvyy and her paws are too fluffy to use the mouse pad.:D

Spent so long on the Debitas thread! Went to work today and did role-playing in debt negotiation training. I was a builder.When the call came I said I wa on the job with a lady who wanted to get felt laid down in the loft (thanks Barry Cryer). No I couldn't get to my debit card because it was in my trousers. No I wasn't wearing them, and no, if I asked the lady to reach over for them I'd have to put them on hold for at least twenty minutes. I wish it had been for real.
A colleague was asked by EDF who supplied his energy, he told them it was just clean living and early nights. When a cold caller tried to sell him a kitchen he said 'I don't know where I'd put it'. 'Why?' 'Well I've just moved in, we've got 200 bedrooms, a gym and a lounge, but they don't let us cook.'
Like someone on that thread said those of us unfortunate enough to be bad guys find it hilarious too. I can't take it seriously.
On the receiving end, I was late paying my mobile bill last week. Taped the redirection message on a dictaphone and recorded it on my phone to use as my voicemail greeting. Then when Barkingcard or Nationwide Anglegrinder call they get a message telling them to select an option to pay their bill automatically or speak to an advisor to have their service reconnected.
Went for a consolidation loan on the worldwideinterweb (Yes I know better, but why worry about a footprint when you're in the credit sewer?) Broker asked me how £213/mth on £10,000 sounded, I said it sounded like 7.2% - the best rate on the high street. Let them process ny app. Got a call to contact a willing lender:

Anyone know if taking a fee which is refundable if you are declined is considered fraudulent when you are dangled a carrot of high street rates and then passed to a company who make Shylock look altruistic?

Figure this out:
Went to renew/upgrade my three contract phone. Paid £35/mth for 18 mths, with them 3 1/2 years. Was told in the shop I needed to pay my bill. O.k how much ? £295.00 - I had signed up on the phone to mobile broadband ONE MONTH earlier. Hrdly used the internet, downloaded about 10 mins of video stuff and a few emails. I was getting up to 6 sms messages a minute saying 'you have spent 10 on internet' 10 what?
Spent 90 minutes on phone to three in the street outside the shop. Every time I got through to accounts to negotiate (very valued customer) I was cut off. Eventually had a crazy idea - Daughter's phone is in my name with 3, all paid. Can I upgrade that? I asked the same advisor I had just told to go whistle for £295. Certainly, she said. So I walked out of the shop ten minutes later with a £300 phone having flatly refused to pay the bill on my other contract. Monday 3 rang and offered me lifetime half-price proper 3 gig broadband via stick modem. Said they would have to credit check me. They did, and the modem arrived yesterday! :j Had an overdraft with N. Anglegrinder for £800. Passed to a collection co. cos I never paid any money into the account (I use it as revenge for £1500 in charges which I won back) The DCA offered me a settlement of considerably less and I opted to pay monthly. Not quite finished paying. Last week I got a letter from N/A saying they have had to reduce my overdraft facility to £500.00. Haven't had the stones to try the ATM yet.
