AOL conditions changing

Options
After 11 years with AOL, on a 'Family' silver package with Broadband (up to 2Mbps speed) and dial up for £24.99 per month (I need dial up to access AOL when on holiday and for daughters away from home), I have just been notified that from 6 June the dial-up will be removed and the fee reduced by £7 to £17.99 per month. (They 'may' be able to offer a separate dial up contract for use on a separate computer - but what about a laptop that is used at both home and when on holiday?)

This is an appalling price hike for a long-time customer considering they are offering £6.99 per month for first 6mths then £14.99 thereafter for new customers getting up to 8Mbps!

Is it just me that thinks AOL is now really taking the michael? (Apologies to all Mikes out there!)

11 years, i think its impressive its lasted that long to be honest. You've got a reduction in price for your broadband which is a good start. Theres plenty of cheap dial up providers out there so you're not completely stuck :)

I would push for £9.99 for silver up to 2mb. That's what most of us pay.

If you want to go for another company altogther you will still be able to access AOL email via www.aol.co.uk.

I called them a few months back, saying I would cancel if they didn't give me a better offer. I got the platinum for £9.99 a month. I was really pleased - not now though. 2 weeks ago, they "migrated the line with Talk Talk" and I get disconnected very frequently. I want to cancel, but I had to take out an 18 month contract when they reduced the price. I wish I had just changed my ISP instead now.

Thanks for responses - Though I pay only £9.99 for the BB part I have always paid £16.99 for the dialup. This means that they intend to take away the dialup but only reduce my bill by £7 rather than the true charge of £16.99. Hence my real anger - I have still had no response to my e-mail about it and telephone staff are like brick walls - and just as ........!
