Hi we are thinking of doing a debt management plan with cccs but we have heard a few things apparently there was a write a bit back in the guardian newspaper about them saying that they are actually employed by the creditors and that they keep on making you put ure payments up it also was saying that they are getting looking into by the financial people

Hi
I havent heard that i thought they were a government run service offering impartial advice we are just looking at going with them but the payments they wanted were just way to much and they wanted us to cut so much stuff out with them. We are just going to stick with our fee paying one for now.
Am sure someone will be along shortly to help you out more though
Good luck

who is it you are using lisa. we have got one in mind that takes fees as cccs are wanting every penny left after we have paid bills which would mean we wouldnt have any left over for just stuff in general.0

We are currently with them on a low DMP and are having a phone review with them next week to make sure we are paying the correct amounts for our income. I haven't heard about them being employed by the creditors and I certainly hope its not true as we are not in a position to increase our monthly payments.LBM-29/08/07

Firstly CCCS is a charity and therefor subject to any regulations set down by the charity commission... If any rules are broken I can assure you the charity commission are VERY strict and won't be fobbed off. Have been part of an organisation as it went through the application process and first year of being a registered charity I can assure you this is strictly governed!
They have never hidden how they are funded - It's easily found on their webpage.
Paying for a DMP... I'm sorry why would anyone want to pay a COMPANY to deal with your creditors? They are taking a large chunk out of YOUR money that you could be paying to your creditor instead? That means your debt will take longer and cost a LOT more to pay back... They are nothing more than leeches if you ask me...
If you don't like the fact that the main funding for the charity comes from major financial institutions then try one of the other debt free organisations (there are another 2 listed in my signature to start you off).
No matter where their fundong comes from they are independant.
If you feel that you the payments that CCCS have suggested are too high etc then why not call them and speak to the and see if between you something has been missed etc.DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

They are, I think, funded by charitable donations from the credit industry BUT they are totally independent from them when it comes to advice.
They wouldn't have recommended bankruptcy for me if they wanted the best for my creditors.
Edit: Tine got there before me with a much better reply

Sorry but... what "stuff"? The point of doing a full break down with any DMP is to list everything, that includes food, bills, EVERYTHING... Going with a charging company might seem cheaper now but in the long term it will cost you much much more... and if things go bad and the creditors stop playing ball then I am willing to bet that they won't be very supportive OR have your best interest at heart... Remember - It's a company's job to make money out of you - these are no different.DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

I found the amounts they alllowed for the expenses to be quite reasonable and so far have found things with them have gone smoothly.LBM-29/08/07

CCCS offer the best advice in your interests and not in the creditor's interest. I'm glad I found them, I was going to go to fee charging dmp company and I'm so glad I didn't as I will be debt free a lot quicker with the CCCS.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

CCCS are a charity. I am with them, and have been for four months, and have found the plan to be more than accommodating. It's about making sure that you budget correctly for everything you spend, and then what's left goes to your creditors. They don't just take everything that's left after bills - they take into account socialising, newspapers, magazines, emergency fund, car repairs, and all sorts. The idea is to let you lead your life as normally as possible whilst paying your debts.
Try their online debt remedy;

put everything in as accurately as you can. The idea is that your priority bills and your ability to live day to day come first. Creditors come last.
