Hi, hope someone can help.
We're leaving for the USA (Florida) tomorrow for a few weeks but I will need to phone a uk landline every few days. I was wondering what would be the cheapest way to do this?? I have no idea how things like phoncards work etc
Through my orange phone, txt are going to be 45p each, so an expensive way of keeping in touch!!!
Your urgent help regarding this matter would be appreciated
Thanks

My OH is in the States at the moment. He bought a phonecard for $10 which gives him something in the region of 200 minutes worth of calls to the UK. He uses the phonecard to call from his hotel room - AFAIK you just use the phone as you normally would, you just key in an access number on your phonecard first.0

The best thing I found was to go to Circuit City and buy one of their PAYG mobiles; you can get them for about $20 (£10) and then just purchase a topup with it.
Depends on how much you'll use it for it to be cost effective but calls to the UK from a US PAYG are very cheap in comparisonBe ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
if you can get access to a laptop or pc Skype is a very cheap way, I use it all the time for calling the US (New York and San Mateo)
United Kingdom £ 0.012 £ 0.014
and its the same going the other way, if someone at home was able to phone you (give them your number)
USA £ 0.012 £ 0.014
Phonecards or a PAYG mobile is another option (US rates are fairly good, if you get one on ATT/Cingular you will be able to roam over here and use any remaining credit as well, as they use GSM)0
