Hi. I'm originally from Bulgaria but studying in the UK and recently heard about the Speak2 package. As I'm making a lot of long distance calls, I decided to give it a shot and to be honest I'm quite satisfied with it. I also purchased the mobile adapter and so far it is saving me a fortune. I really recommend this service to everyone who wants to save money.

You can phone Bulgaria for as little as 1p a minute from your landline.

I dont see how paying out at least a £100 for hardware, plus your broadband, alternative supplier, and possible mobile costs can be considered to be Money Saving.

There are thousands of providers that offer very cheap calls from a landline. But as I'm usually on the move, the mobile adapter allows me to make such cheap calls from my mobile phone

I don't like reading price comparisons on websites which blatantly lie about rival tariffs

O2 international calls cost from 14 or 17 pence a minute on contract, from 5 pence a minute on Pay & Go, while these liars pretend that O2 would charge 99 pence a minute for international calls.

Vodafone charging int'l calls at £1.29 a minute??? Errrm, Vodafone have India and Pakistan at 5 pence a minute on payg.

Even their claims about cross-network charges between UK mobiles are misleading

I have been searching for more info on Speak2 for a week or two now and have been watching this thread with interest. I have looked at their site many times and i have checked out pricing as well and i must say that to brand them liars is a bit harsh. The prices listed on their site state "standard network charges" and if you go to Vodaphone or o2 websites and look at the standard monthly contract tarriffs then the quoted costs are correct. They clearly state that the costs are based on calls to the USA not Pakistan.

Anyway i am on Orange and was interested in this as i have 2 contract phones and 2 PAYG phones. Both my PAYG phones (kids) are very close to being changed to contract phones as they are now almost always over £20 a month. I have since found out about Orange Your Group which groups my phones under one bill and allows all calls between my phones to be free.

From what i have read so far using SMSlisto (£10 topup every 3 months) and a one of payment for the Speak2 software all my phones can use the same SMSlisto package. I can get free calls to friends in spain (which will save me £10 a month on average), the PAYG can get free calls to UK landlines and cheap calls to UK mobiles. The software allows me to control the PAYG usage so they dont run away with things and use up all the SMSlisto credit. This means that their Orange top up fees only needs to be used for texts.

I am almost 99% certain that i will be going ahead with this unless you guys know of a cheaper way of doing it.

    John

P.S. Is there anyone else using this? If so can you let me know of your experiences.

O2 contract with ITS charges 17 pence a minute for Europe and USA

There's nothing revolutionary in this product that can't be done with other providers, and quite often more simply. Their website just isn't clear enough in how some of the options work, to help people decide what would be best for them.

Why choose smslisto when it isn't necessarily the cheapest Betamax brand at the moment? And if you do, why not use it on its own, without paying this firm a monthly fee as well?

If I was going to do something like this, using only callback with a payg SIM, I'd look at getting 4 to 6 pence a minute to landlines without any monthly charges to a separate firm, and rates like those could be available all over Europe. If using callthrough access with a UK mobile with inclusive minutes, then calls start at under a penny a minute with plenty of providers. And their ideas with a Skypephone aren't new either

And is it only a coincidence that 3 people have now joined to post about uniquely this subject, and nobody else has ever mentioned it?
