Thanks Lokolo, it appears I can do that. Interesting how when on their helplinewas not given that option

Probably because they do not know about it. And neither do staff at their branches. The second post on http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=853593&page=3
does not fill me with confidence

Applied online on 2nd April for 07/08. However, as my OH was logged in with his details and I applied in my name I got an email addressed to him saying application received. I called the helpline to check this and was told that the application would not be successful due to the conflicting information and was asked if I would like to apply whilst on the phone.....which I did. I then received a letter addressed to OH along with my NI number etc. I called the helpline again to advise that I was told application would not be successful and it seemed that it had been. Thought OK - OH has one in his name (got him to change details of NI number etc) and I have applied in my name too. I have since chased this up as the first application (now in OH's name) they would only let me put in allowance for 08/09 when I had specified I wanted 07/08 and would then add 08/09. Second application (in my name) they are allowing me 07/08 and 08/09 allowances - but money is still sitting in current account and no sign of account number being allocated yet. They were going to call me back yesterday but haven't as yet. I raised the issue of first application only allowed 08/09 allowance but later application allowed both 07/08 and 08/09 - they have filed a complaint and we have received the letter saying it will be resolved by 19th May (I think). They have assured me that although my £6600 is still sitting in current account they will backdate the interest.

    So....just waiting really

  • They had my money after clearing cheque by 2nd april I was promised that it would be opened before end of tax year 2007-2008 so that I could open another for tax year 2008-2009. Letter arrived from Barclays saying Isa opened on 16April 08. Wrote to them 2 weeks ago requesting it be back dated to 2nd april heard nothing yet. will update when i hear
  • I applied online on 6 April. Received an acknowledgement letter a few days later. Phoned about 10 days ago but they were very unhelpful and wouldn't give me a date for the opening of my account. Meanwhile my cash is sitting in my current account earning didley squat!

    I've been Money Tipped!
No problems whatsoever. I'm a new Barclays customer. I made an appointment for the next day, went in and set it up. Excellent service.

Only applied for mine last week, so naturally it hasn't been sorted out yet. I had a letter a couple of days ago saying it would take 4 weeks, there is a delay blahblahblah. I did notice the crown employee thing also but thought nothing of it, apparently rightfully now. I'm an existing customer as well, applied online.

But there's still nothing better than this right? Its not worth cancelling and going elsewhere?
  • applied for mine on 12th april, received an email and letter but no account yet! am existing customer so very annoyed!
