2.2 The minimum deposit is £1. Deposits may be made by transfer from another account, standing order, cheque, or by paying a cash amount into any Barclays branch in the UK.

Not sure if the transfer from another account means in branch only. But thats what I think. I can remember reading somewhere that Barclays didn't want online transfers as their system doesn't stop people from going over the limit, however, I could be wrong.

I feared that may be the case although antispam246's statement made me think otherwise:
Transfered £3000 online from my Barclays current account, it went in on the 8th Apr.

Does your ISA account have a sort code and account number with it? It may not have 'fully fully' been set up yet, hence why not being able to transfer. Other than that I'm lost :-)

Yeah, account no./sort code are there although it did only appear today and I haven't had any paperwork about it yet so I may just have to be more patient.. :)

But the terrible customer service was inevitable after last year and the base rate drop was inevitable because of the credit crunch.... this was obvious more than a month ago when applications opened. So why did you go and open an account?
Absolutely agree with you on this

Many applicants seem to have been blinded by the headline grabbing 6.50% and missed the more important word Variable.

I totally understand that the rate is variable and as such it is likely to go down as the base rate falls. I have no problem with that.

Not sure customers should put up with bad customer service as 'inevitable' or 'obvious' on the basis of what happened last year.

If anything Barclays should have learnt from last year and streamlined the application procedure.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this thread is about 'bad feedback on the setting-up process'. Surely we wouldn't be writing about it now, if we thought that putting up with 'terrible customer service' was part and parcel of the applications procedure.

Indeed and if people took into consideration last years problems this thread wouldn't exist as there would be a lot less people going to Barclays for ISAs and there wouldn't be such a long wait for them to be opened

I get the impression that you are condoning Barclays poor service and laying the blame with moneysavers for applying. I do not understand your logic!

as per my previous post barclays online banking does not allow transfers into their isa, when i queried it at my branch told its to stop people paying in over the limits.

with regard to transferring money in branch, no go either personnal banker filled in transfer form and faxed off to isa central processing and guess what, just checked again and still not been done 3 days later.

will go in branch tomorrow with tax haven sort code and a/c no and draw out cash from current a/c and try to pay it into the a/c that way!!!!!

i am not holding my breath on this one.

I was wondering about that one as what would happen if you used the pay someone option online and just specified your ISA account no./sort code?... 2.2 states you can deposit via. standing order which is ultimately pretty similar? (Unless of course the standing order has to be setup in branch too)

That if there weren't as many people applying then there wouldn't be as long delays. I am not saying that moneysavers are to blame, but are in fact a contribution to the delay. Especially when they pile the ISA offices with phone calls when the employees could be doing other things, such as setting up our ISAs ;)

Well my cheque was cashed yesterday (£3600) after opening the account back in early March.

I am not happy that the rate has been cut considering they did not drop it last year on their best paying ISA:mad:

Barclays is crap now but then again the rest out there are not really any better.
It's far better to be penny wise than pound foolish.
