  • If you currently subscribe to ELLE, ELLE decoration, ELLE girl, RED, SUGAR, Inside Soap, B magazine or All about soap, you can get Psychologies for bigger discount than I mentioned previously:
I found another offer code. "UA01" on 0870 129 8800 will get you 34% off shop price. £5.97 every 3 issues, or £23.88 for 12 issues. For uk delivery only. VALID UNTIL 31ST DEC.
  • new to this so please forgive if i'm doin anything wrong.

I subscribed to the Now magazine offer 6 for a £1 where u can cancel after the fourth magazine with no monies being taken other than the £1. Received confirmation this morning, clearly says 6 for £1, but goes on to say 1st magazine will be sent on 30th October and the 1st quarterly subscription of £3.99 will be taken from my account on the 5th November. Do i still wait for the fourth magazine then cancel and hope to get my £3.99 back or do i cancel now? Anyone else had this happen to them?

did the offer on THEIR website i.e. when you ordered -state 6 for £1 or did you just use an old link from here and assume it would still have the same offer on? (the offers change every so often so the links at the start of the post aren't always still valid)

If the offer appeared when you set up your direct debit - where it tells you first quarter at £x etc then phone them NOW and complain till they sort it out. If you used an old link from the start of this thread then the offer is likely to have changed and I would just cancel now before they send anything out and want to charge you for it and by cancel I mean cancel your direct debit online with your bank if you can and phone/email them (the subscri[tion company) and cancel

Subscribe to New Woman and get a free set of slimline hair straighteners. Worth £55

You also get a free Cd

I would go for this if I hadn't already subscribed.

You have to subscribe for 6 months min at £13.50

I think it's a great mag and well worth the reduced subscription rate alone.

Hmm...am tempted but notice they have a big disclaimer:

*Direct Debit offer, minimum subscription term is 12 months. Closing date 30th Nov 2005. We reserve the right to replace the free gift with one of equal or higher value up to the gift limit of 700. Please allow up to 6 weeks for delivery.

I'm the kind of person that will get sent some rubbishy plastic 'gym' bag instead....

I cancel the direct debit as soon as they take the money out and then place a note in the diary or put a reminder on the computer to email them after i receive the last issue of the cheap sub (usually the third issue) I don't want to email them and let them know I am cancelling in case they don't send the rest of the magazines so I wait till I have received them all. So can I email them and cancel and they will STILL send out the rest of the mags?? I suppose they have to don't they since you have already ?paid for them

What a superb idea, I normally just spend the entire 3 months thinking that I must remember to cancel the DD in such and such a month - now I can just cancel it almost straight away and forget about it! You are a star Kazzea :T

I think that the magazines may be on to us!

I had a quick look at a few magazines to see what free gifts they were offering with a subscription and most of the ones I looked at did not have a free gift at all - just a reduced price for the subscription!

I actually tend to forget when I need to cancel and to be on the safe side I call them to cancel - usually ends up being a month early. They then ask "would you still like to recieve the last 1 or 2 issues?". Of course I say yes! They also just say "cancel the direct debit". Sorted! So, as soon as you get the first issue phone to cancel ;)
