smudge78 wrote:Thanks for your help guys, so if you cancel with online banking then that is enough. Doesn't the subscriber continue to send you out the magazine? or do they find out about your cancellation with your DD cancellation? Just want to be totally clued up before I start on a mad magazine subscribing escapade.
I got caught out doing this when I first started and was just cancelling the DD - I had four or five subscriptions on the go at the same time with the same publisher and I had cancelled the first of the DDs but two magazines had only just started so I'd left those DDs running. I didn't cancel any of these subscriptions with the publisher and they took the second DD payment through one of the remaining DD agreements. The DD is just to pay the publisher a variable amount and not for a specific magazine so as in their eyes I hadn't cancelled the subs then they took the money through the open DD and I ended up paying a second payment for two subscriptions. I was mighty p****d off and complained but as far as they were concerned I hadn't cancelled the subscription which I guess is reasonable.
Now I always send an e-mail to the publisher when I cancel the DD - it doesn't take a minute and avoids any confusion and risk of extra cost.
That was quite difficult to explain - does it make sense? I don't want anyone else to get caught out.0 -
yep, understood .....even tho i,ve only been up 10 mins. e.mails or great.0

I cancel the direct debit as soon as they take the money out and then place a note in the diary or put a reminder on the computer to email them after i receive the last issue of the cheap sub (usually the third issue) I don't want to email them and let them know I am cancelling in case they don't send the rest of the magazines so I wait till I have received them all. So can I email them and cancel and they will STILL send out the rest of the mags?? I suppose they have to don't they since you have already ?paid for them0

On a train last week I found a leaflet - 2 subscriptions for the price of 1 - inc Red, Psychologies, Elle - £36 for the full year for both magazines, spread the cost and pay just £18 every six months.
I Liked the psychologie magazine and I like Red too, so thought it was a good deal.
It gave a website address of - https://www.subscription.co.uk/hachette/ZA03 but the stooopid link doesn't work. The phone number is 0870 830 4961April 2006 - £9790.26dr. DFD - March 20110 -
