I'd ask them what the £1,000 is actually meant to be for.

Works out as £40 per month over two years which is probably a bit on the steep side for broadband and phone unless you have fairly hefty call charges.

It is just for broadband too. Have phone with BT

I am the official company representative of Plusnet. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. Am doing, unfortunately, waiting for head office is like waiting for a call from God with no direct line!

Perhaps it would be sensible to find out exactly what is included in the £1000 and ask for a free half an hour or £5 for half an hour with a Solicitor. Sometimes a Solicitors letter is all that it takes to get a satisfactory conclusion.

    Hi,

Please let me know how you get on, I also received a letter with the same thing today - no contact for 2 years, then wham!

My circumstances follow a dispute about some rogue calls (£100 plus worth to Sao Tome) which I never made - Tiscali wouldn't amend the bill, so I cancelled the DD.

Um, can't wait to speake to their call centre again...

    Good luck.

From what i've read in magazines etc, it is never a good idea to just stop making payments, but you only said you cancelled the dd, so did you just pay cash/card each month?
On the subject of the rogue calls, as they weren't premium rates you can't contact ICSTIS, but you can take the case to the telecommunications ombudman. Even just threatening this to tiscali might make them jump into action.
But certainly you should carry on paying your bills.
  • Hi Baron,

I have had similar problems with Tiscali, I called them on Monday and spoke to Rowan who has informed me they were going to get someone from financial services to call me today... Still had no call!!!

They did not send me any letter just a debt collection letter which is illegal, and affects your credit rating.

Call them and state the facts and inform them you will be contacting OFCOM.

Good Luck (have a look at my thread for further details)
