the amount of holes i get, i'd use up a hole tyre in no time....... then i wouldnt need a tyre, cos the inner tube would be so thick..... ha ha :D

Cut in to various lengths and tie a knot in the end of each one, then you have a supply of heavy duty condoms.

It's possible that even if they don't advertise the fact your local council's tip has a place for inner tubes! Ours seems to sort far more comprehensively than they let on ...

Its all there on instructables.com (as posted above) - sprocket and inner tube belt, inner tube shoes, inner tube wallet - 1000 uses, some weirder than others .

Why not fix them with a puncture repair kit?
Aha, just read the rest of the post.
Are you using really cheap, thin tubes or tyres?
I wouldn't expect more than a handful of punctures per year.

It depends where you live. I never had a problem in the Midlands.

But in Manchester it was always raining when I cycled to work and it feels like I was always changing a tube in the wet. You can't see the glass in the wet. Then I found kevlar armoured tyres!!!!!

whatever you do, dont try filling up the tyre with green gunk that supposedly seals a trye automatically when it punctures- they seldom work.

I have heard that you can get some sort of plastic tape that go between the tyre and innner tube, so they stop sharp things penetrating the tube. Work a treat my local cycle shop says.

As a keen cyclist myself averaging about 50miles a week I always used to get punctures on my old cheaper bike thanks to RTAs and drunks chucking bottles in the road.
Since I have had a new better bike about a year I haven't had one yet - will probably get a load now!!
You can get puncture resistant tyres one is the Specialized armadillo tyre. I suggest looking on Ebay I think mine cost about £9 but haven't had to fit it yet! There are quite a few other makes can't remember though.
Pros - allegedly no punctures. Cons - are generally heavier and sometimes give a harder ride. Surely getting decent tyres may be more expensive initially but in the long term should save you money and hassle!
Woolyhatshop online and on Ebay is well priced for all types of bike parts. Delivery isn't the quickest usually 5-7 days in my experience even though they say delivery is a priority. A lot cheaper than your local bike shop but customer service and delivery could be improved. Hope this helps.
