help please...samsung e800 wap-sim? question

Hi every1,

i just bought one of these new phone's from a mate of mine ;D but he's kept his sim as he wants his same number so i have just put mine in and kept my number which is great! but i have a problem... :-/

when you press the centre button (i button) for wap (to download ringtones logo's...he said?)

it just brings up the message:

Error: Network Unavailable
:'(
the phone works fine and makes and receives calls.
just this wap thingy buggin me...

i took my sim out from my nokia 8310 on O2 and put it in this, i think he was on O2 as well before.

can any1 shed some light onto this matter?

it just needs setting up because it was on a different network before, i did mine through the o2 website, i don't think it had the e800 in the drop down menu but it did have samsung and i just tried that and it worked

just had a look on the website, it's on the menu on the left, o2 active, then get settings. it sends 2 texts to your phone i think, don't delete them til you've sorted it.

tried it but same message coming up.

just noticed though a key pad lock icon is in the centre at the bottom of my phone between retry and menu

hmm...... did you save the texts? I think you have to paste it into the profile menu or something on the phone.

I had a similar kind of problem with a Nokia 6600. It was unlocked from Orange and I wanted to use an 02 sim. Phone worked fine but just could not access wap services or send picture messages etc.

I tried the 02 site but the phone couldn't receive the settings for some reason.

I took the phone to the Nokia centre who were to put in the corrrect settings but it still didn't work.

In the end I ended up spending nearly an hour in the 02 shop where a really helpful bloke took ages inputting stuff on the phone and checking everything manually. I was getting concerned that there was a problem, but it really was just a case of having to configure the settings properly.

If you have a Highstreet 02 near you, it's well worth a visit, and they should be able to sort it out for you.

i did save the settings and it still does n't work...

as for an 02 store its a bit of a trek any1 else on here can you help or it may be a last resort...

is your mate on contract and are you on pay as you go this normally causes a conflict

yes it can be done but you must change it to wap pay as you go instead of contract cos there is a difference i will check it out for you now ok
