you can try going for a facial every month - my pores always look so much cleaner (if u know what I mean!).

    Otherwise there is home steaming..
And clarins have this method of cleansing which apparently sucks stuff out of your pores..you need to use a tacky cleanser, like a gel based one (I use Nivea Refreshing facial wash for this), and put the stuff on your face. Press down on your porey areas, and then lift your hands straight off your face.

There is probably more info online, I am not describing it well!!

Ive been using this method for two weeks (twice a week) and my pores are a lot less congested already. Ones on my cheeks are barely noticeable already

I've always had problems with blocked pores. My skin is quite oily and open pored. I found that the best stuff for me was Body Shop tea-tree oil wash, freshener and moisturiser. I also used the facial scrub once a week and the warming mineral mask once a week. It didn't work miracles but my skin was definitely better when sticking to a rigid routine. Wash, freshen and moisturise morning and night. Scrub on Wednesday night and Warming mineral mask at the weekend.

I found that I could dampen a weeks supply of cotton pads (for use with the freshener) and keep them in an airtight box.

I don't know how old you are, but on the plus side, if your skin is more on the oily side, it has a tendancy to age a lot better than your drier skinned, less blackheady friends.

If you can afford regular facials, that also helps.

I used to do The Body Shop at Home, and we were told that it takes at least a month for a new regieme to show any effect and that the problem will probably get worse before it got better. Decide on your new routine and stick with it for at least a month before abandoning it to try another. If you can bear to go bare faced, then try giving the foundation a miss too.

Try an aspirin mask. Crush about 5 UNcoated aspirins & mix with 1tsp water (enough to make a paste). Apply to face & let dry (15 minutes). Wash off.

When mixed with water, aspirin forms salicylic acid which is a top ingredient in pore clearing solutions.

That's the moneysaving version. The non moneysaving version is to use Avene's Cleanance K AHA/BHA cream (£9 from Boots).

Also, make sure that your skin likes the other products you are using. I personally find Olay's total effects, regenerist & complete care lines to be pore friendly. I also like Clean & Clear deep cleansing cream wash & use Revlon Colourstay makeup.

eta: How could I forget, retinoids (Retin-A, Differin) are the holy grail in pore decloggers (& anti agers as well). I get mine from an online Indian pharmacy very cheap with very good reviews. The above site has lots of guidance on safe usage.

Hi - I've been using this method for a year or longer now, and would def recommend it too! I use muslin cloths, and apparently you can buy a large expanse of muslin very cheaply from eBay, and just cut these up and use them... if you do a search, you can find the details..

Clearing blocked pores is a two step process really. The reason the pores are blocked in the first place is because a build up old old skin cells cover the pores and stop the yucky stuff from getting out. But if the yucky stuff can't get out then a product can't get in to dissolve it either! So you need to start of with exfoliating to get rid of the dead skin cells. Try to avoid the traditional grainy exfoliators as it's easy to miss bits, you're much better off using one of the facial peel type exfoilators. They typically contain glycolic acid or AHA's, BHA's etc and instead of sloughing off the dead skin they will gently dissolve it and improve the shape of the pores which helps stop dirt from being trapped in the first place.

Once you've started regularly exfoliating then the oil cleansing method is great to flush out the pores in between. Hope that helps!

You have all my sympathies, there is nothing more aggravating than blocked pores. I have to say everything pamaris says is spot on, and the divas from makeupalley are genius on the subject of skincare. My tip to add to the advice pamaris has given would be to invest in Malki Black Mud Mask Soap. If you once a week wash your face with it leaving the suds on for ten mins then gently wiping it off with a wet muslin cloth, you will find the soap pushes the gunk in the pores to the surface letting you clear them with the muslin. Do not expect to clear all the pores in one go, it will take a wee while to do the complete job. And one other bit of advice, don't go mad plastering fifty different products on your skin at once! Your skin will only go shoutycrackers on you giving you bigger problems than the blocked pores. All good things come to those who wait:D By the way, the soap stinks of sulphur:eek: but the smell goes away very quickly and remember most things that are good for you taste and smell bad.:rotfl:
