Vauxhall Astra Boot Stuck

I know the right solution has already been found, but i'll just elaborate on it a bit.

I had the same issue this week, thought it was the windscreen washers frozen, but after a few times i had to stop and clean it myself, i went to go to the boot to get a bottle of water, only to find that wont open either!!!
So went xMas food shopping, hoping that it may have defrosted, but didnt. Rung Vauxhall and as soon as i said the words "Boot won't open", he then said, you drive an Astra and you've blown a fuse...common issue i think.

Well anyways, it took me ages to find the right one, because the manual doesn't state it and they dont know either, but it's fuse 8 for me, in the bonnet of the car. The fuse box is located just to the right of the battery. Check the fuse first (you can see through the fuse to see if the metal connector has blown), and if it has blown, just pop into halfords and pick up another one. They come as a set of two (always handy in the freezing weather), and cost be £2...whereas Vauxhall tried to charge me £40 because they wanted to "check" everything was ok.

Oh, and the reason the fuse blew was because the washer jets were frozen, the pressure built up and it blew the fuse...lame!

Hope this clarifies something for some of you.

Same here. Vauxhall SXi 3dr. Yesterday the washer jets on the front widscreen wipers were frozen solid. I tried the washer jets a few times and no joy (due to the frozen pipes) and then... the rear tail gate/boot will not open.

Vauxhall chap said "try replacing fuse 1". After reading this thread and the manual, I left fuse 1 alone and removed number 8 to take a look. It was blown. A quick trip to Halfords and minutes later the boot is working just fine again. The washer jets are still frozen, but I only have a quick attempt to use them and then resist touching them again (only short journeys of course, I make sure I can see where I am going!)

Thanks Stephan.pieri for the post above. :D
