Orange Overcharging

Options
I know Martin recommends shopping around for the best deal BUT cheapest isn't always best. I miss the service of my old phone network......

I recently switched to Orange to save money on my mobile phone bill.
On my 1st phone bill of £169.54 they overcharged me £114.73.

Part of the overcharging was because they had deducted calls from my inclusive minutes which should be free on my tariff (e.g. evening and weekend calls to landlines are free and should not be deducted from inclusive minutes). Orange denied they had done this. I had to produce an Excel spreadsheet breaking down all my calls to prove it to them. They agreed with my calculations and that they were wrong, although they have never apologised.

These calculations also showed they had deducted an additional 80 seconds from my inclusive minutes which they could not explain – their numbers simply do not add up.

Neither could they explain why there were 3 separate charges of £1 on my bill. They have refunded these, but cannot explain what they are for.

Orange also forgot to switch my phone numbers from my previous mobile provider. A fact that the salesperson in the store told me would not have been picked up, had I not gone back into their store. This meant I have had to pay my previous company for an additional week, and possibly longer had I not chased it up.

I have a concern that other customers are in this situation or will find themselves in this situation if they switch to Orange
  • Being overcharged
  • Paying for calls/texts that should be included in their tariff
  • Having minutes deducted from their inclusive calls, because Orange’s numbers do not add up
  • Having arbitrary sums included in their bill, that are so small they will not get queried
  • Paying Orange and their previous mobile network bills unnecessarily, because Orange delay switching networks
I would urge anyone thinking of switching to Orange to think twice and if you make the switch, or are already on Orange check your bill very carefully!

  • I have had the exact same problem with orange.

i receive unlimited texts and 950 minutes from orange for a supposed £15 a month (which i thought was an outstanding deal)

however, for some reason my bills were averaging out at 30-50 pounds a months :/

I've just begun making a spreadsheet of everything so I can compare everything to their bills. dont know how i can recuperate all my previous months money since i'll hjave nothing to go by tho
  • Payg - Tbwtg!
  • i am also with orange and have the same problems! I have tried everything to get out of my contract even telling them about my bankruptcy but they still wont let me go! My contract when upgraded was meat to be £25 of which they have always charged me £30 and everytime I have contacted them they deny this. They keep charging me £3 for non dirct debit, when it is and so every month refund it.

Would definetly go back to PAYG if I could!
    £2 Savers club £0/£150
    1p a day £/
  • You can cancel a contract, done it myself with orange. You do have to pay a fee for this though!

In my case it was worth it, had 2 months left but couldn't use the phone, paid about £80 plus whatever calls were on account iirc.

In fact thinking about it, my old dear did mention they had sent a few 'red' letters for me to my old address - 10 yrs pervious.

To cut a long story short, when I cancelled the contract i had to pay, my card, the FULL ammount due on the account plus an ammount compensation them for loss of rental etc. I was not allowed to be invoiced i had to pay, over the phone, there and then in full so they could be sure it was complete, finished, done!

I did this, was about £120 all in all, confirmed with the chap several times, that was all business done.

A few months later I start getting letters from them saying I owe money for calls and if I don't pay they'll disconnect my account! Absolute jokers, It got filed under B.1.N!

The whole telecommuncation industry is a joke imo, all as bad as one another and all quite willing to bully their CUSTOMERS into paying much more than they need.
