Magazine subscriptions for £1

I cancelled the Maxim one two days before due and was really miffed as it was an accident, really surprised when the King of Shaves set turned up yesterday!!

With regards to the Now subscription/Body butters saga - I still haven't received mine after ringing several times. On my last call the guy said he would send out some new Body butters, but that was 3 weeks ago, so I'm thinking I'm not going to get anything.

Anyway, I have a theory on all these free gifts with magazine subscriptions - I have recently order various magazines with free gifts, and as yet I've received nothing. So my theory is that these companies are now getting wise to the cheap subscriptions with free gifts, knowing that the buyer will cancel very soon after getting the free gift. They are therefore not sending the free gift until much later, therefore getting the buyer to increase the length of their subscription.

I received my gift and I had cancelled the subscription even before they had taken the £1. I am not sure if some companies do this, but not all.
Although, I have been doing these for years, way before MSE and there are more problems with receiving the gifts now.

I have also not been receiving the free gifts, and was thinking the same as you.
I will have to forget most of them but as the 'Now' people did write back to me I will hassle them until I get something. Not giving up on this one!!

After waiting nearly two months, I decided I was going to ring the people at Now magazine again. The girl I spoke to said (suprize, suprize) they had run out of Body Butters, but reeled off a list of alternatives - there were loads (including Imperial Leather set, Avon set and Original source kit) and I went for the original source kit. They are going to send it out asap and they were very sorry for the problems caused. Anyway, I won't hold my breath. I'll keep you posted, but I still stand by my theory.

i was considering subscribing to improve your coarse fishing and getting the free reel but what i want to know is can i cancel the subscription as soon as i recieve the reel or am i tied to a 12 month contract?
