Under Eye Dark Circles

I have almost permanent dark circles under my eyes and have suffered with them since my teens.

Can anybody recommend something that will stop them?

Thanks.

i'll be watching this thread as i suffer with them too, i've heard many excuses in the past why we have them such as not drinking enough fluids, not sleeping enough and it running in the family. apart from a good concealer i'm a bit stuck!!

The most common cause is dehydration so if you're not doing it already drink 8 glasses of water a day. The dehydration causes the skin under the eyes to get "thinner" so drinking lots of water helps to plump that skin back up. If that doesn't work then there's not really a miracle cure for them I'm afraid so your best bet is make up. Use a concealer with slight salmon pink undertones to counteract the blue colour.

i've heard keeping a tea spoon in the fridge and putting that on it in the morning helps........ but never tried it (i'd sooner have the dark circles in the winter over putting something freezing on my face first thing when i'm already cold!). mine only show up with lack of sleep, but i also second the idea of a pinker concealer - makes a huge difference over a more skin coloured one! (although that doesn't help prevent them in the first place!!)

This is a trait that seems to run in OH's family and I have noticed that they were all people that stayed up till all hours for various reasons... I have gotten OH out of that habit and we are usually in bed by 10.30/11.00 on weekdays and he doesn't have the black eyes anymore...its funny cos I only remembered this the other day when I saw a pic of my sister-in-law with big black eyes... so if you stay up late watching tv and then have to be up early it could be a reason...

Sadly, there is no cure for dark circles and any product that says it can is complete rubbish, so save your dosh. Lifestyle and genetics play their part as does underlieing health issues. Rehydrating your body, using cucumber and even chilled teaspoons can all play their part in slightly improving some dark circles, but not cure it. However, foundation, followed by a salmon pink highlighting/ concealer cream is the only way to temporary banish them and cheaply. Tip: Bend your head down looking up to a mirror, as this emphasises the circles making it easier to target the area and lighltly build upon them with the concealer. Finish with your favourite powder to set it for the day. Voila!

I have had dark circles since I was a child. Nothing gets rid of them for me, and I have tried almost everything.

I thought I read somewhere that a more yellow based concealer followed by foundation helped to mask dark circles?

A yellow based concealer will work to a degree but a salmon pink will be more effective and generally look more natural. It's all to do with colour theory and the colour wheel, which is why we use green to cover redness and purple to correct a sallow, yellow skin tone etc.

I find a product from Benefit called Lemonaid really helps to cover dark circles. It is a hard yellow cream (like cream blusher) in a little black flat pot. You put it over the dark bits and then cover with concealer or foundation.
It really helps but cost about £16 - this lasted me about 1 year. So the cost wasn't that bad as it lasted so long. Paige X
