I know how you feel, I am in the same position.
We haven't had Sabrina long and she wasn't ready to go out yet. We are so careful about not leaving the door open but on Friday the council gas people came to do the boiler service and he left the front door open without even warning me or asking if it were OK.
I am so angry because The job should have been 15 minutes but he was in and out for about half an hour and stood outside talking to his mate which must be when she got out. I thought she was just hiding in DS room which is what she normally does when there are strangers in the house.
It wasn't until feeding time that I realised she was gone.
We have searched everywhere and been up and down calling her name. I have put posters up too but can't imagine anyone round here would notice another cat wandering around the estate. There are so many around here as it is. My other cat keep searching for her too. She wasn't particularly nice to him but he is still missing her.
People keep saying she will come back but She has never been out before so I think she will be well lost by now :-(

THANK YOU FOR THE ABOVE POST!! I am going to follow that advice now and hope we are both successful :)

one more suggestion - take a torch with you if you when you go to look after dark.My mogs are a bit daft and will follow the beam from the light - if you call her name it may just work. I Know it sounds mad - but it worked for me.
    Don't give up!! Best wishes

And just one more , if you do call your cats name. call it as your heading back home, and not away , otherwise she may get confused .

Personally Id check all the neighbours 1st , my cat was killed by a car 8 weeks ago , turns out a neighbour had been feeding him , and hed gone there for food, as it was his second home ,

Best of luck to both of you , hope you find them .

my friend breeds rag doll cats, they sell for £300 each. people come from all over england to buy them, why would you let such an expensive cat out. lets hope she turns up safe and sound, and just to say my ginger moggie got locked in a barn down the road from me for 4 days. he was just a bit thirsty and hungry but none the worst for it. good luck in your search

Nope. Still don't get it. I never made a single assumption, I came to a logical conclusion that if your animal was missing it wasn't on your property, ergo, it was on someone elses property and liable to get lost.
Put your claws away sweetie. I thank you.

Um, have you considered cat may have got fed up with you and left?

We had that once, there was an elderly lady across the road who used to feed the cat and after time it just stayed there. Its nice really, both get the attention they want and both are happy.

However, my cat at home would never leave me, I can go outside my house, call her name twice and she will come in. She will do as I say and will sit beside me whilst I eat my dinner (and now try and eat my food, sometimes - roast beef, that temptation is just too much).

But I would also check with neighbours, cats get run over all the time when they aren't used to roads :(:(:(
