Which just happens to be 1 May 2008, when the new regulations regarding buyer feedback come into force, and a large number of sellers are contemplating boycotting e-bay on that day.....mmm....conspiracy theorist? moi???

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me!!!!

the main change is that sellers will no longer be able to leave negative feedback for buyers.
i thought it was the 15th though?

    how can they justify this?

a mate of mine recently had to sell his newton faulkner tickets on ebay at face value.
someone bought them but as it was so close to the gig he had to post them immediately and the guy said he would send a cheque for them.
nothing arrived so my mate read the other guys feedback left from other sellers and there were a few saying never sell to this guy as he doesn't pay.

ok, so he should have insisted on paypal and referred to the feedback before sending the tickets but if that option of reading feedback isn't there how can you know about these people!!

I don;t get this at all

If your friend blatantly ignored the feedback and was dreadfully naive as well , surely that proves that removing the negs and neutrals options for sellers isn't going to make a lot of difference anyway?

With non payment neg were never the way to go anyway and were always the last resort. A good NPB and a strike have a lot more effect in the long run.

yeah he was being naive as it was his first time on the site and he didnt even know what feedback was!!
i would always check the feedback before buying or selling anyhting on ebay so if i didnt have the feedback to refer to how would i know how to assess the buyer/seller?

They will still have feedback and buyers can still leave negs and neutrals, it is only sellers that can't. The fact that the only way to field potential problems in future is to use sellerpreferences to exclude people with NPB disputes against them in the past 30 days is a concern to us all.

I was merely pointing out that your post appeared to show that feedback for buyers made no difference at all anyway.

sorry but inquisitve as I am...what are the new regulations as on 1st may.

New regs state that (a) sellers can't leave negative feedback; and (b) paypal will only release monies when the buyer has left positive feedback OR they will hold onto the funds for 21 days, and then release providing no claim for a refund has been made.

To my mind, this leaves the system open to abuse - some buyers (not all!!) may abuse it, and use this as leverage to get money back/discounts/refunds when not necessary! The possibilities are endless.

Also, paypal get to keep the interest!!

    Hope this helps....
