I have some frozen rhubarb. I want to bake a rhubarb crumble, so will 30-35 mins in an oven be long enough to cook the rhubarb inside? I was thinking that if I defrost it first it will all turn to mush.....? Anyone know?0
-
I'd defrost it first.
You can even simmer it gently in a small amount of water and some sugar for a few minutes before making up the crumble, without it turning into mush, honestHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Thanks squeaky - would the same apply to frozen apple?0
-
I tend to let it defrost overnight and just put in the bottom of the crumble dish cold ... however, I've also done as Squeaky suggests re heating it gently, and it's been fine.

I've quite ofter cook crumble with frozen rhubarb, just put in dish, sugar over then crumble on top. Never had any problems with uncooked fruit.0

Just to let you know - I started to leave it to defrost and then when JayJay14 said it would be OK frozen I put it in the oven! So it was softish but still frozen when I covered it with crumble and it tasted delish! Cooked it for about 40 mins at 200C. Thanks All x0
