New Phone Desperation!

Hi, I've just managed to get out of my virgin mobile contract through a fluke contract !!!! up but all my minutes and texts disappear from tomorrow so am in pretty dire need of a new contract!! I had no idea the iPhone's had sold out so quickly, does anyone know if anywhere has any availability or where to buy one (the 8gb)? Also, this may be a daft question but are 12 month contracts completely extinct now?
Thanks for your help.

You can still get 12 month contracts from most places - they're just slightly more expensive, or you don't have all the added extras.
Not too sure about the iPhone, I know my local o2 has them in. But that store is invariably dead! x0 -
Ahh brilliant, thank you. I might pop into my nearest o2 branch this week then and see if I can find any there. Fingers crossed! I really don't want to get stuck in a contract I don't really want so I think patience might pay off here, as hard as that may be

Orange and o2 both do what are effectively one month rolling contracts now. If you've got a phone you can use, you could go onto one of those until you find a contract you're happy with x0

Ahh I didn't even know they existed! That could be really useful, I'll have to find out if my phone will take orange or o2 sim cards. I should have thought all this through first probably but I was just so pleased at having a no strings cancellation I just jumped in before they could change their minds! Thanks again for your help x0

please be advised there is a new 3g iphone out at most a couple of months that will remedy the major issue it has, also unless you get it jailbroken you will need an 18month contract also0

Sorry, I'm not too clued up.. Which major issue does the iPhone have? I'm worried that the new version will be way out of my price range and I can't really afford much more than the £169 offer price that's on at the moment if I can get hold of it anywhere.0

avoid it then, seriously you need a £35 a month contract for 18 months on top of the purchase price unless you hack it, that amount would get you a n82, n95 or viewity free and imho all are better phones.
the iphone is a pretty lousy phone by all accounts but it does have an excellent web experiance, limited of course by the dismal 2g connection speeds.0
