Yes plenty of people. But its your own fault for opening an ISA with 3 days to spare, everyones doing it!

Its like a holiday, do you expect everything to go right and have a great time when you book something 3 days before? No.

However saying that, it should say on the letter whether it's an 07/08 or 08/09 one.
• To be honest, booking a holiday 3 days before one leaves and opening an ISA are two very different things. As they had correct documentation and filled in the forms themselves using official identification I fail to see how spelling mistakes should occur. A system crash, understandable owing to the volume and annoying but there you go.....

Please forgive my naivete but I did expect better and as it was an MSE best buy I thought it would go smoothly, my bad.....

I have read a few more posts in the forums and see that it is a tough crowd. I will be more careful about what I post and how I post it.

Yeh its a tough crowd because once you've been here a while it gets kinda annoying when people make new threads about same old stories, when they could just add to previous ones.

And yeh they're aren't completely the same but its the point I'm trying to get across. Yes its on the best buy list and its near the end of the tax year, so a lot of people are going there. Things are going to crash. And as for spelling mistake, people make mistakes, its a way of life!

I'm confused. Were you actually funding (max £3k) the 07-08 ISA?

I did read :
The cheque was cashed on Thursday the 24th of April

.... but it's a bit unclear what that relates to?

My ISA is a !!!! take.

They messed up my Nino so they decide to change there RECORDS so now my nino changed completely, went back and got him to ring glasgow to change it.

Then he said that it's fine and they confirmed £3600 would be deposited.

HE had messed up my ISA form, i don't have £3600 and yet Glasgow were going to withdraw this.

I'm getting tired of all the hassle with them now.
8,000 / 10,000 saved. Another 2,000 by April 2011!
• bristolleedsfan, my apologies for putting it in the wrong forum. I only realised it went in there after it had been posted. Maybe admin can shift it. Thanks for the welcome. I got my !!! handed to me. A lesson learned. I found a huge thread about 4 pages in the ISA section..... DOH! I have moved it off to it there.

Lokolo, my apologies for upsetting your sensibilities. I did do a search for Barclays and went through the 1st 3 pages and saw nothing. Perhaps Barclays ISA may have been better. I will endeavour to be a bit more of a search nerd in the future. I know you were being helpful but it just didn't feel like it at the time. I don't know what you are on about WRT the spelling mistake. I didn't say anything about it. I appreciate you trying to correct your spelling. Clearly as a student you feel that spelling is important and I applaud that :).

Mikeyorks, yes, the cheque was for full £3k allowance for '07/'08. Why?

Why?

Because you seemed totally focused on the paperwork .. but barely mentioned the fact that the bottom line is really whether you get funds allocated to 07-08. As it's not the first thread I've seen where someone was concerned to get the ISA opened ... but oblivious of actually funding it for that year (you only mention the £3.6k for this year, directly) - decided I'd ask, as it wasn't really obvious?

Very similar problems with Barclays last year. You can only talk to them about what they've actually achieved for you / partner .... but look for some compensation if you have lost the allowance and your applications were pristine.

I've moved this to the ISAs sub-board - there are a number of threads about Barclays ISA problems, click here for search results.

Crabman :)

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.
• Thanks Mike. My apologies for being unclear and I was actually focused on using up last years allowance and I am still very much concerned by getting it for last year when opening the ISA as well as the paperwork. I hope the paperwork SNAFU doesn't mess this all up. We shall see.

There was no real point in the exercise of opening it up for last year if I didn't get it. I will assess the situation once I have all my proverbial ducks in a row.
