Citroen rant rant rant.

I bought a new car last year from citroen a C4 and it at the moment needs a replacement engine.

I told them that i was unhappy about this and that I wanted a new warrenty and a guarentee that if they replaced the engine and if this reoccurred that they would cover the value of my car from the date of the first issue. They wont      I have finally got them to agree to a extended warrantee but and they have basically bullied me into letting them fix the car, constant calls and pats on the head like a good girl listen to the man who knows about cars and dont bother your head with this. and the best one oh you should be happy you are getting an engine for free. Why should I? the engine should last as long as the finance dont you think . Stupid people. They have made me so angry. I have not had my car since the 02/04/08 and I am fit to be tied at this stage. Oh and they lie to me all the time.

DONT BUY A CAR FROM CITROEN AS THEY HAVE NOT GOT A CLUE WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS

the cars covered by its standard warranty period
on many things when repaired/replaced they dont extend the cover period
your asking them to cover the value of a new car on a one year old car
faults happen, they replacing the engine under warrenty

    what was the reason?

A new engine for a car only one year old sounds drastic - what's wrong with engine?

    Why does that surprise you?

Personally, I would reject the car as not being fit for purpose - any car that needs a new engine after only one year isn't fit to for purpose.

a little extreme,it could be something small like a design fault of an oil way/pump
so yes it needs a new engine but its a small component thats caused it
VX had an issue on 2.2 engines where a timing belt oil spray jet was too small leading to engine failure via a snapped timing chain

new engine with updated spec component and the problems solved

I guess it's all down to luck, every so often ther'll be a design floor or a 'lemon' car out there. I would push for extended warrenty on the replaced engine though, purely out of customer care, they do believe it will last as long as the original factory fit one after all... ...don't they?
I would never buy Citroen again either, OH bought a new diesel C3 a few years back and the turbo failed 3 times in three years, one of the headlights leaked and was constantly fogged up with condensation, and the air-con needed regassing every year. And they tried to charge us every time for all works even though it was under warrenty, they are slimey money mongers IMHO.
Strange how after 3 years they agreed the aircon unit was leaking due to split pipes in the system and wanted nearly £300 to replace it, yet under warrenty it must be because she wasn't using it enough... need i say more? Got it done privately and almost 1/2 their price sold it and bought a new vw golf. Perfection.
Good luck and keep pushing for that extension on the engine warrenty!!

i have got my car back finally and made them agree to a extended warranty.

i calculated the days my car has been in the garage since date of purchase. Total 60 days. Impressive citroen. I have bought the company report from companies house and there is a 4 page timeline going to the two directors of Citroen UK of the problems I have encountered along with their not very nice emails about how i dont keep appointments (rubbish their error). The fault occurred because the car was burning oil. I took the car back to CITROEN CITY in August , September and December because I felt that it was consuming two much oil to get a pat on the head and say well all cars need oil. I hate them truly hate. I dont think I have ever hated anyone other than As you like the builders as they are mighty crap too. What I didnt get was an apology for the crap service but I did get slapped with a £250 excess because I gave them back their car with a chip on the window. My car has scratches and a big chip on my windscreen but obviously this didnt happen in the garage becuase it never left. Ironically there are 24 miles on the clock since i dropped it in and petrol is lower. I wonder how these things happen. Damn pixies.

You may wish to post a review of your car on sites like Parkers, What Car, and Peachorlemon. I always look at these sites when I am thinking of changing my car and I take into account what people say about reliability. You need to keep your comments factual and calm, though I can see why you are so upset at being treated in this manner. You have every right to expect better service from a dealer with a new car.

I have two rules for buying cars and this is the advice I give if i'm ever asked......

    Just ask two questions.

Question 1: Is it French? (If the answer is yes then walk away!)

Question 2: Is it Italian (If it is, walk away)

Held me in good stead so far:j

I wonder how long it will take for someone to extoll the virtues of their italian/french car:confused:

Spuds I know but I am not calm or anything near it.

I have written a letter that has taken all my emotion out of it and just stated the facts. it is being sent tomorrow registered to the director of citroen uk at his home address so i live in hope.

I have taken your advice and just said that it is not a very good car that it is unreliable and trying to deal with.

i will never ever ever touch a french car again. i have always had volkswagans and vaxhaul (opel to me) and will go back to these again as they are fab cars

    I live and learn
