I like ramellous1 give my lawn the once over about once a week and remove any weeds as they appear. The only thing that I find hard to control (other than the moss) is clover, I've tried verdone on it lots of times with no luck but I think I'll try the salt idea.

aaaaahhhhhh .......... dandelions really bug my husband. we have a patch of lawn about 30 x 100 foot and husband (who obviously had too much time on his hands) decided to pick all the dandelion heads off the plants.

not only did he pick them ................ he counted them

1178 ended up in the bucket and formed a lovely golden hue......... just like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow :rotfl::rotfl:

can anybody beat that ? and would anybody like to beat my husband.

Ktee one year I paid DS2 2p for every flower head he collected - glad he wasn't in your garden!

    I plan on laying turf

you will need to buy good quality turf otherwise you will find that your weeds in the grass problem is just as bad if not worse!

Pour some salt into the centre of the plant and in a few days it just shrivels up and dies. Does not seem to damage surrounding grass, at least not on our lawn. Hope this works for you.

I do this as well but it does leave a yellow ring of grass too!

And how many were back the next day, or the next day? :p just as many I bet.

Probably worse than dandelions are bulb buttercups as they're not so obvious. They just keep radiating out from the original and re-rooting as they go. Heart's- ease too can take over if your lawn is susceptible to them.

I too go over the lawn with a two pronged weed puller almost everyday.

You can't stop the cat muck multiplying though!

Does anyone have any tips on how to get rid of dandelions on the lawn without killing the grass?
Lawn looks lovely when cut but soon the dandelions make a reappearance and spoil the grass.
Would prefer to use something organic on them to get rid
    Any help please:beer:

only the hard way by pulling each dandelion root individually...

alternatively Ive been told that vinegar works and does not kill the grass (although I would check this first!)

....boiling water and salt. He's not a very keen gardener but hates dandelions with a passion! I've yet to try it but will be doing so shortly as we seem to have a plague of dandelions where I live. I've seen a garden up the road with small piles of white powder on the front lawn and I'm assuming they are trying the salt technique! :p
