Non-BT Line Reconnection ISP Dilema

Hi all,
I am trying to get Internet Access for a house that has a non-BT telephone line. I do not particularly need a landline and have no cable access / mobile phone.
I believe the normal approach to get internet access would be:
1. Ask BT to reconnect the landline (implies entering a 12 month BT contract)
2. Contact the ISP for the internet service (when the BT line is active)
However, is any way to avoid the first step so that I can sign up with someone other than BT for a combined Internet/Phone package?
Madasafish seem to be able to do this. However, they state a potential charge of £115. Not sure yet if this applies to my circmstances though.

Hiya,
If Madasafish are quoting you £115, it suggests that BT would charge you £124.99 for the pleasure and tie you into a 12 month contract. If you want to PM me your post code and the number or name of your house, I'll be able to clarify this for you.
You're correct in your assumptions, but the only way around avoiding a telephone line installation would be to go for either mobile or satellite broadband.“Official Company Representative

This is a little misleading.
Madasafish do charge £115, but the current offer from BT for a new installattion is only £29.99 and the tie in is 18 months, providing you make at least 10 calls a month.

But if you already have a line who provides it? Other companies may be able to switch it on for nothing if it is still giving you a dialling tone.0 -
I know of hundreds of people who live on a holiday park 11 months of the year in static caravans and none have landlines, yet they all have internet access via dongles to laptops. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Can anyone shed any light on this situation as you all seem to have good knowledge on these things...
I have no phone line and connect to the internet via a T-mobile USB connection in the back of my laptop.
I want to connect to the internet also with my Nintendo Wii to play online but it doesn't seem to be able to connect using this USB
Is there any way at all that I can get online on my Wii without a phone line?
I have checked the Nintendo website and found the support unhelpful
Please can anyone help??!!!0 -

This thread might help.
However if you're on mobile broadband then i'd advise to look at your bandwidth allowance, because if you're planning on using the connection for wii gaming then it'll eat up that allowance very quickly0 -
Thank you very helpful
Nintendo have stopped stocking the official wi-fi connector but it has led me to find another similar one that I can buy so thank you and i will post back to confirm that it is now connected and resolved!
Cheers again for now!0
