Massive Cost of Boiler

My mum is getting a new boiler put into the house. It is going to cost around 4 and a half grand. Is this normal? Our house is fairly small. Apparently the boiler costs around 1400pounds (british gas serias 5 high efficency boiler or something similar), and for them to install it and take the old one away takes it up to 4600pounds. This can't be right can it?

    Yike.. you could source a high quality Vaillant for about £900, fitting and testing about £2.5k to £3.5k - get quotes from 3 independent Corgi installers.

    If you post in the DIY/Is this quote fair sub-board, you'd get a better response :)

    For that sort of money (IMHO) you would genreally expact to get a complete system not just the boiler replaced.

    :confused: I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.:cool:

    British Gas are a complete rip off get a quote elsewhere and you will half it
