Where to get more bang for your buck?

Thank you for clarifying this nearlyrich. I was interested as I have been looking at booking another holiday to Egypt only this time staying at a Red Sea resort rather than in Luxor.

I do understand that prices are considerably cheaper but it doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule concerning the 1/10th of the price that you were talking about. Your Italian meal sounded very nice and obviously represented good value but on the other hand, your meal in Costa Coffee would not have cost £72 over here.

I found on average that prices for meals in Luxor tended to be around 1/3 to 1/4 of UK prices.

Has anyone else got examples of how much it costs to eat out in other countries, I think this is a very useful subject for holiday planning.

I can confirm you can get a nice chicken curry in Goa for £1, rice was 50p and a nan bread 30p in a beach shack. Beer is about 40p. Only thing I found expensive was wine

How much would those prices be in your average restaurant frequented by tourists (for those who felt a bit too nervous to eat from a shack?)
