There's a list here but I'm not sure I totally agree with it:

You have a strike a balance between the £/whatever exchange rate and the local costs of living.

We have just come back from a week in a 5 star all inclusive in Egypt, I can confirm that the cost of living is pretty cheap: E.G. eating out, taxis etc about the same £ as at home but the Egyptian £ is about a tenth of ours

I am unsure where you stayed, I am assuming at a Red Sea resort but I would like to clarify that that is not the case for the whole of Egypt. Whilst prices in Luxor are reasonably good they are certainly nowhere near 1/10th of UK prices.

I would be really interested in confirmation of the sort of prices you are talking about nearlyrich - are you saying it is possible to have a decent meal out for say less than £1 each?

Where can you get a decent meal out in the UK for £10?

Quite a few places the last time I looked, but this isn't a discussion about what constitutes a 'decent' meal, you seem to be missing the point.

This thread was started as the OP was asking where to get the best value for money whilst on holiday.

You said that eating out prices were about one-tenth of those in the UK. I asked you to confirm this as I am genuinely interested in the cost of eating out as are perhaps other people reading this thread who are interested in taking a holiday in Egypt.

If I was on holiday in the UK then I know that I could eat out more than adequately for breakfast, lunch and evening meal for a budget of around £30 per person, are you saying that the same could be achieved in Egypt for a budget of £3 per person per day?

We had a lovely Italian meal in a silver service restaurant for less than 100 LE, compared to our local Italian that is about a tenth of the price, also in Costa Coffee 2 Milk shakes, 1 cheesecake, 1 quiche and 1 salad toatal 72LE I am pretty sure you can't get a drink in Costa in the UK for under £2.

Taxi to airport from centre of resort from airport 40LE about 20 mins in the car for our hotel, you can get a bus cheaper, so don't pay for transfers by tour company.

I can assure you Incapuppy I am not missing the point, and as you can get more than 10 LE to £1 sterling if anything I was on the high side. If you don't mind eating in the same restaurant(s) every day you don't have to buy food as it's there all day in the al inclusive resorts...we ate out when we went on a trip out for a change of scenery, we could have paid a lot less in a cafe.
