I went into my local Halifax branch, taking my last statement from my current provider and the transfer was sorted out in ten minutes.
Halifax has a dedicated team based in Nottingham to do the tranfers and you don`t lose any interest.
It`s all done electronically ,with a top rate of 5% from £1 up,excellent service.

No longer available to new customers but if you've already got one then best stick with it

  • I would view with great caution anything told me by branch staff at the Halifax. I have been given so many conflicting statements by different staff whose only commonality is their off hand manner and their atrocious customer care. I have been trying to open a regular savings account and an ISA for MONTHS now and every time I go into the branch there is something the previous ****** didn't bother to tell me or mistold me. I got angry last visit (didn't swear, shout, spit or use abusive words or actions) but have been told to close my accounts there as the staff find me 'frightening'!! You should see me! I believe the manager there is so incompetent it was her only route to save face. Quite frankly doing business with the Halifax is simply not worth the raised blood pressure - they are not that much different to other rates out there. BTW, have been a customer of theirs for over 30 years and am a shareholder! How's that for customer service.
:grin:If at first you don't succeed, then sky-diving isn't for you
  • Im getting 5.15% on my National Counties BS Guaranteed ISA was 5.5%

I can relate to that. But they do have such good products. Find a competent member of staff and stalk them, its the only way!

Both my wife and I have transferred to Halifax's direct ISA saver. Even though my org account was closed on the 26th October I'm told that my money won't actually be in my new account until 6th November. My wife, who is now really !!!!!!, was told that even though her org account was closed on the 31st October it is likely to be anything up to 2 weeks more for the money to appear in her new Halifax account and was told that she will only start getting interest when the money appears!!!

See post #14 in this thread (and tell your wife that drinking to excess never solved anything!).

I believe that is incorrect. You shouldn't lose interest at all. The previous ISA provider will add any interest when it is transferred.
