New wing mirror

The mirror bit of my wing mirror (drivers side) flew out yesterday whilst driving along a busy dual carriage way.
The swivelly mechanism is still there but I have lost the mirror, together with the bit that attaches the mirror to the swivelly bit. Any suggestions, I really don't want to go to the dealership unless it's my only option

Hi full-time-mum
People on this board will need to know the make, model, reg and engine size of your car to be able to help you in finding one or pointing you in the right direction.
I must agree, dealers are so expensive on parts, but sometimes, you will have no choice!Be nice, life is too short to be anything else.0 -
You could try doing a search on e-bay to find breakers that specialise in breaking your type of car. Alternativly, try & find out if there is an on line owners forum for your type of car and post a wanted ad on there.0

Halfords stock them (probably other places are cheaper I used it for convenience)
Had to buy a couple in the past - takes less than 5 minutes to fix
Edit - only applies if you mean just the actual glass mirror bit0 -
I got one off Ebay, cheapest I could find and we checked everywhere (using partners trade discount)One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
I'd second halfords if it's just the glass bit you need. Mine was about £6 (fiat punto) and you just stick it on. There is a peel off sticky bit on it, but i would recommend you use some strong glue as well just in case. Had mine on over a year now with no probs (sods law it will fall off today though!)

Over the phone, one renault garage has quoted me £295 and the other £95.
I'm tempted to go down to the local parts shop and get a stick on piece of glass for £7 and see if that will work.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
Is it the whole mirror that is missing or just the glass?0

Hi again
A quick ebay search clicky. you can get it below £40.
Go down to your local Halfords! They have a wide range of 'mirror bits' of wing mirrors and as far as I remember they were below a tenner each. They might do the bit that the mirror holds the mirror. A qoute from them won't hurt.

There is some of the swivelly mechanism there but it doesn't look as if the glass just 'stuck' on so I suspect that there is another piece which sticks to the mirror and clips into the bit that's left.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -

I've had a look at ebay - don't know why I didn't do this before. However, it still isn't clear whether I just need the glass or glass plus half a mechanisim. (I'm desparately trying not to come across as a clueless women! but failing miserably, I think.)
Maybe I should take a photo so that you can get a look. Do you think that would help?7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0
