cancelling vodafone contract

This is a long one...

I wrote a letter to cancel my contract on 4th January and requested pak code at same time to transfer to o2 pag. I didn't use the code until the morning of the expiry (1/3/08) by going to o2 website.
I also had a phone call during this time and the guy confirmed that the contract would carry on but with no charge if I didn't use the pak code (thought that was a bit odd at the time!!)

Since then I had a March bill charging me line rental. I phoned and spoke to a woman regarding the bill and she said she would send out a revised bill and new pak code as the first code hadn't taken effect and the account was still open.

Since then I have received an overdue letter. Having phoned to find out what is happening, I have been told I have to send another letter to cancel the contract as it is still open and I am still being charged. The staff were very unhelpful and antagonistic.

I have since written an email of complaint to Vodafone and asked the contract to be cancelled again, but having read on this forum I need to send it in a letter format. I have had no repsonse to my email at all (sent to vodafone last Saturday)

But I have received another overdue letter stating it will go to debt collection services if I dont pay

Obviously I am partly to blame having not fully understood what would happen if the pak wasn't used / didn' work.

Don't know what to do now? Pay another 2 bills for a phone I am not using and chalk it up to experience?

Surely the system should be set up to just cancel the contract if the pak code hasn't been used.

Has anybody any advice regarding this.

  • Good afternoon lumpygravy

It really does sound as though you've had a tough of it trying to cancel your contract and it's a shame that you haven't managed to get this sorted out with Customer Services.

As I'm sure you want to get this sorted out it'd be great if you could get in touch with Vodafone's Forum Intervention Team through this link. All you'll need to do is include the code FIT 135 in the body of your email to ensure that it comes straight through to us.

Once we get this we'll take a look at your account and get back to you.

Hope to hear from you soon.

  • Personally I have sent Vodafone a letter to close my account with no details other then my address and the sim card of the contract never gets used so retention won't be convincing me to stay-old fashioned methods are still the best when it comes to disconnections and avoiding sales.
Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!
As D'Ream would sing 'Things.....can only get better'!!!
  • It is so laughable now! I have just received the April bill with a credit cancelling the March service charge but have then still been charged for the April service charge.

Surely the staff will have seen this on the account when I was speaking to them. Every single one of them said I would have to pay for both months and were very difficult and antagonistic.
