Electoral Register?

I may be wrong but ...
... This appears to me to be a clear case of attemting to obtain a pecuniary advantage, i.e. a credit card, by deception................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0 -
Yeah, Thanks, I know you can get it by post but I was led to believe that they are pretty generic, basic reports?
I have been getting the equifax one online using the discount code and also got the online mycallcredit one.
I have asked this in another thread (just below) but am curious to know if I offer Natwest (my bank of rpast 3 years that I have a current account with £100 switch card) a £100 deposit would they offer me a credit card with a £100 limit?
Even if I do go on electoral register, I contacted the council on Friday and was told that it normally takes 4-6 weeks but because of massive backlog in my area, it's cyrrently taking about 6 months or more!
I just really want to start rebuilding my credit.
Thanks

Finding out the state of your debts and speaking to the companys involved if you can , after finding out your report from experian , is the best way forward mate , and then starting to repay because unless youve had settled CCJ`S (someone correct me if im wrong) then youre 6 years hasnt started yet and you wont be getting credit for a while
HKeep on keeping on... :beer:0 -

NO, it's not at all, I am applying with my CURRENT address, with my REAL previous ADDRESS, if anything the credit I received before was obtained using a different address.
I am trying to explain that I am trying hard to sort my credit file out and I have every intention of paying back what I owe to the previous creditors.
I am not trying to decieve anyone or rip anyone off, I'm just trying to start afresh.
Sure everyone is entitled to a second chance?"I Assume I Need No Introduction"0 -

I have no CCJ's on my file, the credit that I got into trouble with was at a relatives address and I never used my real address (stupid I know but I was at a time in my life where money didn't matter, I just wanted to have fun) I am now married with a daughter and really want to settle down and get my life in order.
I was told by CAB about 3 years ago, that CCJ's last 6 years whether settled or not
I really will pay back what I owe but if I approach them now, it will affect the clean rating that I have now.
I have worked hard for teh past 2 years with my mobile phones and bank accounts, I don't want to mess up what I have.
The CAB also told me that I am entitled to, if I so wish pay back my debts anonymously and when they are paid they will be treated as settled.
All I want os a credit with £100 limit that I can use monthly and pay off in full every month. Capital one want a £200 deposit and I don't really have that.
Thanks

And PeeWee, I'm alarmed that you have suggested this course of action for the OP. MSE does not exist to help and encourage others to commit fraud and deception, which is what you're doing here.
No they dont, 3 years is fine, I have never been asked for my address over 3 years.
I wasnt ecouraging him to commit fraud or deception, just an option in the list, no need for your melodramatic alarmist attitude.0 -

Been in exactly the same position, and Capital one with a £200 deposit is proabbly going to be your only option, it was for me.
If you cant afford the £200, you could pay the deposit, and then use te £200 credit limit they give you to live off i.e get your £200 back , then pay this off in small chunks each month , Its an expensive way to do it with the interest that you will pay, but might be your only option.
I also managed to get an egg card with a £500 limit, and I have 0 history, and a default (which has now been settled) I did get rejected but wrote a very polite email appealing and explaining why they should give me one.
They interviewed me on the phone, and finally gave me a card.
But dont worry about the elctoral role, get yourself on it, they dont ask for any previoud address in my experience if your worried about that.0 -

Thank you for your reply
Finally someone knows where I'm coming from, I will go for the CAPITAL ONE card, I have appealled to NATWEST today, will see what happens. The strange thing is, I went to my Nawest branch today and they said they couldn't help as the credit card center was a different to them but gave me a £300 overdraft and told me that I was PRE-APPROVED for a £7500 LOAN if I ever need it. Mad eh?
I actually called the council about the electoral role and because of the massive backlog in my area it will take at least 6-8 months to get on and not to be surprised if it takes upto 2 years!!! CARZY!!!
Thanks for your help though PeeWee
