Although it is better if babies do not have sun cream applied to their skin, I would recommend using it if it prevents a baby getting burnt. Avon and Boots are good for suncream at a decent price

My DD was allergic to sunblock and came out in red patches.
Everyone thought she had been burnt:mad:

I had to be extra careful, Hat parasol, long sleeves ,and most importantly seeking out shade, she still walks in the shade and she has never been burnt and she is 13 now.

When she was a toddler she protested about wearing a hat ,I told her no hat, no fun and she always wore it.
  • i actually use cream, hat and permenant shade. ok so far.

As a red head myself, i have to use a high factor suncream too. I brought some from Home Bargains last year, but also asda sell some fairly cheap with a high factor.

A hat is a must so i dont burn my head-so would be good for a child too.

i agree with what everyone said about keeping her in the shade as much as possiable and use a gentle sunscreen high factor desinged for babys they are pretty steep in price but what price can you but on your perfect baby skin both me and my partner suffer baddly in the sun both fair skinned so our son is pretty much doomed too. also one other piece of advice that all the mums at work have aggreed on is steer away from coloured sunscreens for kids all the mums said they realy dry out the skin and for a few of the kids gave them a rash
