Retailers and SOG Act...

i really don't think staff are trained at all on it! the two retailers i worked at niether have given proper training on soga, if it wasnt for my degree i wouldnt know anything about it, all you hear is company 'policy' which is usually rubbish,
should be a law saying all retail staff should be trained on the soga and distance selling regs if applicable...but that means they would have to follow it wouldnt they hmmmYes Your Dukeiness0 -
When I used to work in retail (before I got a proper job) we had no training on how to deal with returns etc.
I used to just refund or exchange no matter what.
I mean, I couldn't care less, it is not my money and I wanted an easy life BUT the person serving next to me would argue forever and seemed to be on a personal crusade against refunding or offering an exchange. She would hold up the queue for 20 minutes arguing the toss over a £2.99 refund, it was embarrassing.
So sometimes it depends which staff member you see.0 -
should be a law against people who go into shops spouting the sog act - if they get it wrong and are spouting bull as so often is the case they should forfeit their right to any reparations and have to pay a £500 fine too.0

You mean the kind of bull you have spouted about the law( magistates having to be legally qualified, for example)on other threads?0 -
When I worked in comet some manufacturers (mainly computers) told us not to do anything about it other than get the customer to contact them first. Then if they agreed there was a fault the customer would have to come see us and send it to the manufacturer.
Alot of these manufacturers wouldnt let us even look at them.Green and White Barmy Army!0 -

What part of working in retail isn't proper?
Whats your "proper" job now then?0 -
I agree, some retailers do not have a clue about the sog act, they continually refer to their company policy.
I have found Argos to be particularly bad for this, the staff in our Argos are poorly informed and very rude when customers try and put their case.0 -
You're not claiming rights to force another to perform an action on this forum though are you.
Perhaps you would elaborate? I am completely mystified?unless you mean on this particular thread:rolleyes: and are referring to the SOG again?.
If so, my comments on other threads stand, and it would be too tedious for me to reprise them.0 -

Like the kind of bull that you've spouted that you will never ever ever get done for not having a TV license if you keep your gob shut - that's the kind of thing I mean.0
