EGG Cash ISA problems

Anyone having problems with their Egg ISA, i got confirmation from Egg that my new cash ISA was up and running with a balance currently running at zero, i e-mailed them back asking what happened to the £1000 i opened the Egg ISA with, eggs reply

Our records show that the funds left your Egg Savings Account however the transfer hasn't fully gone through. As the funds have left your savings account I'll need to get our Missing Funds team to look into this for you.

They'll be in touch in the next five working days to let you know what's happening.

it's a bit worrying that they have a Missing Funds team

So who do you think deals with your cheque if it goes missing after you pay it in with a high street bank?

Um I'm quite suprised that about Egg. My ISA I opened with them last year was fine. Someone else had a problem with them when they couldn't top their ISA upto £3000 (last years) due to a rounding error.

Nevermind though, least they know theres an error and are fixing it!

Last week I had money 'disappear' between Egg Money and Egg Savings and it went to a 'specialist' team. One wonders what would have happened if I'd gone away or whatever. But I log on to all my accounts at least once a day, and probably twice. There seems to be a problem! I think it's time to give them feedback. The other problem about it's being dealt with by the specialist team, is that you then cannot find out anything till they come back to you. The call centre people, sweet as they are, don't have information.

At the same time as the money going from Egg Money to Savings, I had money going in from Barclays which also suddenly appeared in the account once I started querying things.

    Very worrying!

I've been in the same position a few times, and each time it's been because my transactions were above £10K, which seems to be the threshold for referral to their 'card transactions' (read AML?) team.

Then again, they could now be routing all EM=>ES transfer requests to a dedicated team who have been shown how to carry them out so they don't generate cashback. ;) (or at least so they can make a manual note to re-visit the account the following month to remove the accrued cashback, as has been happening to many of us. :o )

how can they lose your money, it's not like you sent them a cheque from another country or something , it went from egg saving to egg isa!
are they going to compensate you for the lost interest, which you are losing till they find your money:rolleyes:

    Dear uok

I'm getting in touch with you about a query you have regarding a missing payment of £1000 to your Egg Cash ISA.

I'm pleased to confirm that the payment was credited to your Egg Cash ISA on 30 April 2008. This was backdated to 17 April 2008 so you don't lose any interest.

You can now view this on your most recent transactions page.

If you've any further questions regarding this matter please send me a secure message and I'll be happy to help.

    Regards
