Unsolicited text charges - guidance required

I have been charged over £25 in last three months by an unknown company sending me text messages that I did not register for. My operator Vodafone has sent me only the first page of the bill. I thought that I had accidentally sent messages exceeding my monthly limit. I registered online and checked my bill and noticed that each message has been charged at £1.70 plus VAT. I have sent a STOP message to the company and got a confirmation that I have successfully unsubscribed. I never subscribed to them in the first place. I have sent an email to Vodafone complaining about this. I don't think I am going to get much help from them. How do I recover the charges?

    that may prove difficult

Do you the contact details if the company that sent the text messages?
    if not:
Contact Vodafone and ask which 'service' you are being billed for and the contact details of the company.
  • Hi there geet0809

I'd certainly endorse the advice you've already been given and would add that in the event the premium rate text message provider feels that an error has occurred they will issue a refund. So it's not impossible to get money back.

I don't know if you've managed to contact Customer Services as yet to find out which premium rate text message service provider sent the messages to you. If you have no doubt you now have the information needed to contact the relevant company and get the ball rolling.

If you haven't why not contact Vodafone Forum Intervention Team via this link and if you include the code FIT 135 in the body of your email it'll come directly to us. Once we receive this we'll take at look at your account and contact you with the information you need.

    All the best.
