  • I get student loan and grant and a bursary from uni for £850 this year, the rules have changed as regards to housing benefit and so I am entitled to approximately 80%?? of the cost of my rent, during term time, don't know how things work with an NHS bursary

I will get just over £3000 bursery and I'm told thats the reason I won't get HB, however I think I'm going to apply just in case even if I only get a little it will help.

As for hte burseries, the ones from uni, how I applied for my finance online and I was told on another forum that I go on that unless I ticked a box stating that it was ok for hte LEA to "share" my info then I'd have to apply for the burseries seperate, if I did "tick hte box" then the lea share my ifo and I get the burseries automatically.

Does that make sense to you? because I get more and more confused every day about the finance stuff.

I foolishly thought when I started this it would be one application and that would mean I had applied for eveything :p . Of course I know better now!!!

  • so if you ticked the box you get the bursary with your loan/grant, I don't think I did as the uni phoned me to say I was entitled and that the finance department of the uni would sort it out for me. I suppose it was a separate way of applying for the same thing, so had to fill form for it then and the uni puts the mons in the bank for me. All students I believe are entitled to this bursary due to having to take loan for tuition fees these days or some reason like this. So basically if you haven't ticked box see the student finance office when you go in sep/oct and they will sort this for you
  • Thanks for all your replies to my questions. I appreciate you taking the time

Childcare funding for social work is the same as all other degrees, NHS students have different limits, so if your a nurse i think its about £149 per week. S/W is upto £300 pw but of that you will have to pay 15%. I have just been fighting with my PN1 again.... I also need to get my education assessment done as I am Dyslexic then the childcare form and finally the bursary ( thanks for the link)
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!

The bursery one looks pretty straight forward, apart from my printer is on the blink, so I'll have to wait till I'm at college on Tues to print it off there.

As for hte childcare, let me know how you get on, I've been told I've got to fill out one per child per childcare provider, which for me means 4 copies!!!
It seems very complicated, ansd i'm not looking forward to filling it in, I do have a friend who on the degree i'm going to do already, as a 1st year and she will be using the same child care provider so I'm hoping she'll be able to shed some light!
