i have resolved all other issues apart from the last one which is the icon in the tray at start up but that link you gave me is very usefull and i will keep it

When you check the box it should stop the popup.
Since you have edited startup items you need to keep it on selective startup not normal startup as you have done.
The Dialog box is just making you aware that you can undo the changes by going to normal startup. but that is not what you want to do.
My pc runs on selective startup as I dont want everything running in the startup item list and I dont get the popup once that box is ticked.
Also make sure your pc is up to date will latest updates via windows updates in the start menu. Maybe they have rectified this issue in one of the updates?0
