Quite right. It's nice to know I'm not being unreasonable! I was made to feel a bit silly in the branch when I complained...
I have asked for them not to call me anymore but if they need anything from me then they can write...

They are doing it to sell you something right there like upgrading your account to a paying one, sell you a savings account, isa, or book you in with their customer adviser, investment seller or mortgage seller to find an angle to sell you something.

We have a no marketing clause on our account, means no calls no invites into the branch etc. If we want anything we visit them.

Tell them that as THEY have not yet set up security details for them to verify they are who they say they are you are unable to deal with them. They should phone back to set up these details before you can discuss the account and repeat every time the call back.
When they say but how can we set up details when we dont have security set up say 'sorry that is customer policy'. :rotfl:

If I receive any telephone calls like that from my bank or building societies, I ask them for the * and * letter of my password. They always refuse so I say that I am not speaking to them as I do not know who they are. Funnily enough, they never ring back so I have no idea who actually makes the calls.

We had four calls from them on Thursday and then two on friday.
It said this is an important announcement from Lloyds Tsb and asked if my husband was MR ********. If it was he had to press number one.

He didn't do it as he thought it was a con.

I checked my internet banking account yesterday and noticed that £81 had been taken out for his credit card without us paying (we had totally forgotten to pay).
So in the end they contacted us in real person over the phone, and asked us for the £81.
My husband said it had been paid as they had dipped into our shared bank account (Lloyds Tsb) and taken it without our permission.
Apparently they can do if it's the same bank as the card is.

Didn't know that, thats a bit cheeky isn't it.

Virtually every bank has a right of set-off I'm afraid, it's in their T&Cs.
