I want to buy a house!

We have two houses on the market but nobody wants to buy
Both are realistically priced against others in the areas.
We've even spent £1000's on my girlfriends house recently. New kitchen, Damp Proof course and decoration. I hope things get better soon.
Mine: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-17398271.rsp?pa_n=1&tr_t=buy
The Gf's: http://www.peteralan.co.uk/index.php?nID=property&reference=ALBAABP03951
We want to buy somewhere together.
Any comments appreciated.

Wow I love the first one, especially the conservatory. Bit scary the colours in your girlfriend's house, I think you could do worse than to buy a job lot of magnolia paint!0
-
You should have seen it before we painted the front room, stairs and back room! LoL This is seriously toned down from 3 months ago.:cool:0
-
Why do you want to sell both? Why not just sell/rentout one and live in the other?0
-
Mine, while roomy and nice, is from 'a past' Renting it wouldn't be economically viable.
My Girlfriends is smaller that we'd like (too many hobbies!) and we'd be looking to start a family soon, so space is needed!0 -

Sorry I don't understand what you mean by this?
Yours seems lovely. I don't know about the area so don't know if it's overpriced.
Your girlfriends house looks a bit grim from the outside - needs some plants + retake the photos on a sunny day?? Also the inside is a bit  and looks a bit studenty/rental to me. Would need a lot of tlc to become a 'home'.
Best way to sell quick is tidy up + neutralise then drop the price so you are undercutting the competition and stay one step ahead of prices falling! (link)0 -
I am assuming he means from a past relationship.
I really think you need to paint your girlfriend's house again, that would scare me in to not looking at it.
I really do think yours is lovely though!0 -
Looking at your area, your house appears to be on at a higher price than any other house has ever sold before (by £3k).

This one is on at £163k http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-17021315.rsp?pa_n=1&tr_t=buy
and in the initial pictures doesn't look so "crowded" in by neighbours as yours.
That one's certainly been on at least since the end of February (could be ages before) and still no sign of a sale.
I am wondering where the garage is as I'd expect it to be alongside a 3-bed detached.
As for your gf's house, the colours are a bit offputting. Apart from that, again, I think it is the highest price ever on the road. Previous highest was £117k last May

So, the market IS slow, but your prices seem to be "last year plus a bit", rather than what is now needed, which is "last year minus a bit"
Also, why is your gf with Peter Alan? They aren't on Rightmove. Nobody from outside of the immediate area would ever find it. I never ever look at Peter Alan's website for houses for sale. I never even remember they exist. So you're limiting your market to "people who read the local papers; people who pass by a Peter Alan office; people who are specifically looking at the Peter Alan website", most people just go to Rightmove to look for houses.0 -
I'd bonfire that shed at your g/f's before it falls down by itself. It's spoiling the view of the garden.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Thanks for your feedback PasturesNew
Yes it is. Not many detached houses come up on the estate
#4 was right on the main road and was a bit old fashoned inside.
The same as this one http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-10031451.rsp?pa_n=1&tr_t=buy. Which is very overpriced.
The one on at £163k is smaller inside (stairs in the front room) and has no conservatory. Maybe i'm not being realistic enough?I am wondering where the garage is as I'd expect it to be alongside a 3-bed detached.
I have a private shared drive which fits upto 3 cars (for me).
The garage is at the end of the drive, rather than being attached to the house. Also, why is your gf with Peter Alan?
Tell me about it! We have just remarketed it after doing renovation work. We're giving them a chance before going elsewhere.0
