  • I love the look of the virgin money card, just a shame it's such a hassle to get one. I closed my Danske account just before they brought in Mastercard debit, wish I had kept it now :(

Apparently the way of getting one is to apply for an RBS current account and select Fleet Street London as your RBS branch.

However another user said they are no longer sending them out and cards from this branch are now RBS branded.:(

I thought RBS branches were being rebranded soon in England so it will be interesting to see what happens then, the branch is still listed as a Child branch.

yes, that'll be me. finally received a statement for the account, yesterday. their CS has been desperately poor. statement is Child & Co-branded. Card is RBS-branded.

    How bizarre.

Perhaps they have not yet received stock of contactless C&C branded cards and are issuing RBS cards so customers have contactless access.

Did you get a cheque book, RBS?

I already bank with RBS as my main current account. I live in England but my branch is a Scotland based one. Got a cheque book but my card isn't contactless.

i don't believe that is it Paul. according to some folks, they have sent out C&C cards since mine was sent to me. RBS staff are unaware of Child & Co altogether, until they check. and no cheque book requested.

Thanks, I will apply for one and see what happens,

Have you tried requesting a new card by calling them, perhaps say your current one has been lost, they may well send you one then.

Was going through the safe. Wet Sunday afternoon job and found these that rarely level the house.

I'll be closing my Danske one too , when I get time to go to the branch. They offer nothing competitive as a bank and they've just started charging 75p per transaction if its abroad, on top of their 3% that they already charge.

The Virgin account is like something out of the 90's. You have to set up all your standing orders and bill payments in the branch, they won't do it over the phone. It takes a full day for a faster payment too and if your sending one, it doesn't leave your account to the following day. The only good thing about the account is you can see your pending debit card transactions online, but many of the other banks do that also now.

it seems they were sending out RBS cards to some people over two years ago, yet others get the C&C one.

i am already on my second RBS-branded card. if they try to order one for me over the telephone they can see that it will be RBS-branded.

yes, i think that is based on branch-based decisions. not sure how they profile their customers.. perhaps best discussed in the Child & Co thread.
